FOLK MUSIC FOR THE PEOPLE. Crash & C-Mac Productions welcomes Crys Matthews to Grants Pass for an intimate evening upstairs at The Haul. A Nashville-based troubadour of truth, Crys Matthews brings together Country, Americana, Folk, Blues and Bluegrass with honest songwriting and a voice rooted in hope, justice and connection. Crys arrives in Southern Oregon following a remarkable year at the 2026 International Folk Music Awards, where her song “Sleeves Up” was named Song of the Year. She was also nominated for Artist of the Year, while her latest album, Reclamation, earned a nomination for Album of the Year. Her music doesn’t shy away from the complicated stuff. It asks questions. It tells stories that aren’t always given the microphone. And at the center of it all is something deeply familiar to folk music: the belief that music belongs to the people. Reclamation was recorded at Nashville’s Sound Emporium Studios and produced by Levi Lowrey, co-writer of Zac Brown Band’s “Colder Weather.” The project features an incredible group of musicians and songwriters, including Kyshona, Melody Walker and Chris Housman. For Crys, Reclamation is about exactly what its title suggests: reclaiming space, identity, tradition and the South that raised her. A preacher’s kid, a proud Southerner, a Black woman and a Butch lesbian, she brings all of those experiences to music that can be challenging, joyful, tender and fiercely hopeful. Crys will be joined by Southern Oregon’s own Matt Spurlock for an evening of songs, stories and perspectives worth gathering in a room to hear.
