The Coos Watershed Association and City of Coos Bay are showing The Extraordinary Caterpillar on August 14 from 8 – 10 p.m. at Mingus Park. This is a captivating 2025 documentary exploring the vital role, beautiful metamorphosis, and unique beauty of North American caterpillars. Using stunning macro photography, the film reveals these insects as “tiny superheroes” that drive global biodiversity and anchor our food webs. Between 8-8:30 p.m., CoosWA staff members will give a short talk about insects, plants. The movie will run from 8:30-9:30. Afterwards, check out the “moth wall”. This event is free and family-friendly. Free pizza and popcorn (while supplies last).
