In July, they will welcome Cheryl Newhouse, a Spinner and Weaver from Richland, Oregon.

Cheryl will be onsite on July 9th , 10th , 11th sharing her weaving and spinning traditions bringing her large spinning wheel to the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center in Wagon Box Theatre for three full days from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting on Thursday July 9th . She will have hands on activities for all ages to try including a functioning 1800’s spinning wheel.

Cheryl has worked for months to prepare daily maker kits for children to be able to learn how to weave, knit, and spin. These kits will be free and will allow her to

teach youth how to do their own projects that they can take home to explore these traditions.

Each day at 11am, 1pm and 3pm she will start her demonstration with more details about her life, her family story, and traditional craft.
