Dig into Yamhill Valley

February 14, 2014 (Updated July 30, 2014)

There’s a lot to love about the Yamhill Valley. The north tip of Willamette Valley wine country, its picturesque small towns, rolling hills and verdant vineyards are postcard perfect. And the wineries, restaurants and artisan food makers are more than something to write home about.

This spring you can immerse yourself in the culinary richness of Yamhill with “Dig Our Valley,” an annual series of special events celebrating the best of Yamhill Valley’s food, drink and agriculture.

Try a taste of the Mushroom Sunshine Menu at The Joel Palmer House Restaurant in Dayton, famous for its wild mushroom inspired cuisine and deep pinot noir cellar.

Now through April, hop-minded folk can sign up for a special day with the brewer at Golden Valley Brewery in McMinnville — breakfast, lunch, 10-beer sampler and more.

Make an appointment any time to visit the tasting room at Kookoolan World Meadery in Yamhill for a taste of cold processed honey wine. The meadery has more than 100 varieties from all over the world.

April 25-30, take a hot air balloon ride with Vista Balloon Adventures for a bird’s eye view of the valley.

And don’t miss the monthly special artist receptions at ART Elements Gallery in Newberg — hors d’ oeuvres, champagne and a chance to meet the artists.
