About 50th Anniversary Celebration – UNESCO Biosphere Region at Cascade Head

Help honor the 50th Anniversary of the Cascade Head Biosphere Region! Join community partners, scientists, artists, educators, and coastal stewards for a day of exploration, discovery, and celebration.

From estuary boat tours and guided hikes to hands-on art, science exhibits, Indigenous knowledge sharing, and family activities, this event highlights the connections between people, nature, research, and stewardship along the Oregon Coast.

This exciting three-hour event will include an incredible variety of activities including:

  • Public presentation detailing the history of the area’s significant designation

  • Estuary pontoon boat ferry with access to the sand spit

  • Self-guided beach walk

  • Educational station with an opportunity to learn about water, Salmon and aquatic life

  • Artistic expression through participation in Gyotaku fish printing

  • Birding in the Biosphere region

  • Guided hike of Cascade Head
