Crab soup is Potato soup
What a joke -- all they had was soup, bread and smoked salmon. The salmon was ok. We didn't have the bread. The "crab chowder" was basically potato soup. No one identifiable piece of crab in the soup. Certainly no crab flavor. Rip off.

Crab Chowder on a Blustery Day
They were out of crabs this go around, but had some crab chowder which always hits the spot. It's a thinner texture than I prefer but the seasoning is great! Getting pricey but that just seems to be a way of life nowadays.

Wonderful Crab Chowder
Novelli's was a recommended stop for chowder so on a cold rainy day we made a visit after watching the surf crash into the jetty. The street signage was lacking but once in the marina parking lot the location and "Open" sign was apparent. I was relieved that the metal gate to the dock area and restaurant was unlocked, as I was really looking forward to a hot lunch on a blustery day. No real seating was available given due to the weather, so the bread bowl chowder made it back to the vehicle for consumption. The quantity and quality was spot on, the seasoning was a little light and it was excessively salty to my taste to rate a 5th star. Your assessment may be different. In any case I would would recommend Novelli's as a place for meal on the Oregon Coast.

Overcharged
We were passing through Florence and were looking for a good seafood place. Read all the positive reviews... They were out of fresh crab. We ordered the crab chowder, cheese bread and two pieces of the smoked salmon, sold by the pound, $44 per lb. The crab chowder had good flavor and it was well seasoned, but a little too salty for me. The bread was very good. The smoked salmon was done great. However, I was overcharged for the salmon. There was a big guy behind the counter. He charged us for the food upfront, for the chowder, bread and salmon also, and then food was provided. He put the two pieces of smoked salmon on scales in the plastic bag. It was 0.5 oz. We took it to go and ate at the nearby picnic table. While we were eating I looked at the receipt and realized that I was charged on salmon for 0.6 oz. It was a $4-$5 overcharge ( 10% from our bill). This overcharge left a bitter aftertaste and a disappointment after all. Definitely not coming back. Just be careful when they weight your food before they charged you.
