I wanted to take son & daughter in law out for Anniversary dinner since I was in town for Celebration of life. This was a suggestion and it was very nice ambiance. Just a little slow on receiving dinner but it was fabulous as was the dessert crème brûlée which is my favorite. I would recommend.

We love the restaurants in this area of Albany and we’re excited to try this place, the ambience is lovely with a fireplace and prominent bar. However: it took approximately 1 hour from ordering to receive food. The menu was limited, but there were a variety of options. The waitress did apologize several times for the delay but the restaurant was not fully busy. Then we ordered dessert and were told they needed to make more cookies for the desert we wanted and it was again over an hour until the cookies came. My husband ordered a medium burger but it was coated in burned leftovers from the grill. My fish dish was just ok. Most of the plate was potatoes. Overall it was a 3 hour dinner. I likely won’t return and I would definitely caution anyone with kids or who doesn’t want a VERY leisurely paced dinner to avoid this door. Especially with so many other great choices in the area.

Should be NO STARS !! We have been to the Vault just a few times and anyways had nice service and nice food……NOT TONIGHT. It was my wife’s birthday and we thought we would have a nice dinner alone. First off, the server wanted to be ANYPLACE else other than working and she had the personality of a door knob. We ordered cocktails and a couple appetizers….the drinks were good and one of the appetizers were what we ordered and one we have no idea what it was…..figured we just deal with and not say anything. Dinner came and we ordered a couple more of the same cocktails we ordered before. They came after a 10 minute wait to get them while our dinner was getting cold….My wife tasted her drink and it was tequila and NOT vodka what she had ordered both times. Flagged down the server and explained to her that her drink was wrong…..without saying a word, she took it away and bought it right back within 30 seconds and told my wife that is WAS vodka, she said she saw the bottle sitting right there by the bartender….plus before she brought it back, they pour vodka on the top and said this was good enough. So NOW she has a vodka and tequila….she tased it and spit it out. I told the server she was not drinking it and to get her another one….please. Again- without saying sorry or a word, she grabbed the drink took it back and had another made for her….when she brought it my wife, she even said ..”oh this isn’t clouding looking like the last one” ….YES, because it was wrong and this one is RIGHT. Still without any personality what so ever, she groaned and walked off….THAN we get the bill and we get charged for 5 drinks….my two and my wife’s two PLUS the one they got wrong and took back…STILL HAD TO PAY FOR IT….Needless to say, we will never be back to the Vault……and if you go…check what you are getting charged for.

Another excellent experience
Came for our anniversary dinner as we have never been disappointed with the food or service any time we have come. Once again, we had an excellent meal and our awesome server Alex is the best! The wedge salad I ordered was huge and perfectly dressed. Ordered a side of the seared ahi to go with it - yum! My husband had the New York strip and it looked like a small roast!! It was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I must say I am shocked at the less than positive reviews; as many times as we have come to Vault 244, we have never had a bad experience. Hopefully whatever issues made the disappointing visits by a few others have been resolved. We will continue patronizing this Albany gem.
