    Fantastic Plant Based Bagel Sammy!

Looking for a breakfast option in Newport, Oregon for my wife and I (I'm vegan) and like always its a needle in a haystack search. Ultralife Cafe is a coffee shop and patisserie with some fantastic pastries and wonderful coffee. Looking at their menu they boast several plant based options including a fully loaded breakfast burrito! The burrito has vegan bacon, egg, sausage, cheese and sour cream! When do I ever find a vegan loaded burrito? Let me tell you, the answer is never.......so, excited and hungry we head off on our culinary adventure. The shop is fantastic. The vibe is great, as a remote worker I could see being very comfortable while I set up to work for the day. It's very reminiscent of a certain coffee shop that will not be named before they went all corporate. I loved the welcoming feel as soon as I walked in. My delight was almost derailed when I ordered the F.O.K. Burrito with anticipation. My heart was crushed when the barista told me they were out....! I almost cried guys......I REALLY wanted that burrito. Thankfully, the wonderful cook Sydney chimed in that she had stuff for a bagel sammy and it was on. She made me a bagel sammy with plant based egg, bacon and cheese with a vegan pesto. Holy crap. This was so good, even though I was full I wanted another one. The cheese melted perfectly and when blended with the pesto became the perfect creamy, cheesy counterpoint to the smoky bacon. And that bacon? If I didn't know better (and have my wife taste test to confirm) I would have sworn it was real. It was perfectly marbled, had a great flavor and the smoke on it was great. This was a damn good sandwich! OH, THEY HAVE VEGAN POPTARTS GUYS!!!! Flaky, soft, just the right amount of crispy on the edges and filled with a scrumptious blueberry puree. My wife ordered a bagel and cream cheese and a cheese danish with fresh berries and she said it was the best danish shes ever had! To drink we shared a Northwest Fog tea. This adaptation of a London Fog comes with either rose or lavender syrup. We chose the lavender as the suggestion of the baristas Nolan and Skylar, and it was fantastic. I'm glad we took their recommendation. They knew their stuff! So, why did they lose a star you're asking after this glowing review? Well, it's because Yelp doesn't allow half stars. First, my wife was pretty disappointed with her bagel. It did not taste like a fresh made bagel but more like one of those over soft bagged bagels you can buy at any grocery store. I didn't mind so much because the sandwich was so good but I had to agree with her. Add to that the out of stock burrito and I couldn't give a perfect score. I'll definitely be back for the burrito!

Cozy Coffee - Yes Alcohol - Yes Treats - Yes

Delicious coffee and the sparkling wine is excellent too. I stayed away from the pastries, but they looked yummy. Comfortable seating and super friendly staff.

A must stop on US 101!!!!

This place is a must stop on Us 101!! We have been traveling in a van for 6 days and always try to find great local spots. This one hit the spot! Espresso was amazing. We got the hipster bagel and Italian bagel. You have to get a maple donut!! I am not a donut person and this was incredible.

    Exceptional service and great atmosphere!

My family hosted an event at Ultralife Nye Beach and we were thrilled with the selection of beverages and the friendly staff. We loved it so much we went back for breakfast the next day! Whether you want to drop in for a coffee and pastry or sit for a cocktail and homemade pretzel - Ultralife is the place! Don’t miss it!
