The food was great, but the service and attempt to make-it-right was sad. We walked in with a booked reservation and should have known at that point that it was going to be poor service when the hostess talked under her breath about another party with a reservation just 1hr later for the same table, assuring herself that "we'd probably be done within the hour" (note that they normally book reservations for 1.5hrs between guests...). We enjoyed the delicious main courses until the hostess promptly shows up to take the empty plates away and then let us know that the next party had arrived and had been "waiting for quite some time." We had been at our reserved table for 1 hour and 5 minutes, still well within their reservation window. When our server dropped by to see if we wanted to order dessert, we declined because clearly we were being moved along. There was then the offer of moving us to another table to finish out the meal. Upon the staff learning of the situation, we were ultimately given a lackluster apology and the employee discount - better than nothing, I guess? Under these circumstances, I'd rather directly email their management staff to explain the situation instead of blasting it through a poor review. Alas, there's no email address on the website and it appears the staff that evening thought an employee discount was "making it right."
The Inn owner we stayed at recommended this place, and I am very pleased he did. There are small signs that this place is a step above your typical eatery. For one they are closed 3 days a week, and when we can, the space is small, but organized and well decorated. The menu is short and has a variety of dishes that point towards sea dishes. We both got the Coho Salmon, DW asked for it as it was on the menu, I asked to switch carbs to veggies, which they obliged. The food was great, in good taste, and presentation, NOT big dishes, for us that is a plus. The drinks menu is varied and reasonably priced. Highly recommended.
Great food, nice quality spot that feels high end, but SUPER loud. Coho salmon good and flaky, calamari fresh and not overly fried, salad and dressing very fresh and sophisticated.
Should of left when we saw the outside of the building. Fish & Chips were greasy! Fries were limp soaked with grease and burnt. Seafood Paella stuck to the bottom of the pan! Overpriced and very small dining area. Will not return and warning friends to save their money, don't go here!
My husband and I dined at the Riverhouse on a Saturday night. The restaurant was very busy with all tables occupied. The area where we sat had windows that overlooked the river (lovely!) but didn't open, so it was very stuffy and warm at our table, and we were only a few feet away from the party at the next table. The menu, although relatively small, had a nice selection of items. The clam chowder and salmon I had were delicious and very nicely prepared, and my husband enjoyed his seafood stew. The wine list had a good variety, as well. Service was a bit odd. Our entees arrived only a few minutes after our appetizers; our server told us that the kitchen had made a mistake in timing. Overall, though, we had a very tasty meal. The quality and preparation of the food was excellent.
