Am I glad we found this place!

We were walking around the bay shops in Newport and got hungry for breakfast. This place was open, so we thought we'd try it. We were so glad we found it. This was the best breakfast on our whole trip. The dark roast pour over was bold and flavorful. The crab cakes florentine was so good with the eggs perfectly poached to order (medium well, most restaurants get it wrong, this place got it right). Hubby ordered the wild mushroom and spinach and added sausage to it. Amazing!!! Love this place!!!

    Outstanding Service & Food!

The restaurant opened nice and early. We were the first in the door. The Food was fantastic! I had the Asparagus Omelet. My friend had the Veggie Omelet. The flavor was great for both Omelets! The coffee was amazing! The service was prompt, efficient and friendly! I will definitely eat here again! Try it, you will love it too!

Unprofessional Railroading Sales Tactics and Skinflint Service

I entered this establishment after participating on one of the lovely, local, whale watching excursions. Before we entered the front door, our group was ushered to an outside table that would fit us (quick service, good sign, right?). We came to the rapid realization that the table was uneven and largely unsteady. The slightest amount of weight on the top caused it to tilt toward the individuals that were sitting on the side of the road. We had water spill multiple times (we had children in our group). As someone formerly employed as a waitress for five years, I tend to be very understanding when it comes to waitstaff behavior. Maybe it's been a long day, maybe they just left a crabby customer, perhaps their personal life is struggling... today I was appalled by the service. When our waiter approached he asked what we would like to drink, to which I (a woman) responded, "Just waters for us." He noticed that I had a Starbucks coffee and commented that I needed to throw it away because they have a strict policy. "Sir, even if I didn't have my coffee we still would be drinking water." He went on to impatiently and forcefully explain that this is their policy because of "Severe food poisoning issues in the past and people blaming it on us." Ok... another red flag. He prompted me again to "put my drink away." Where? We're sitting on gravel ground and my car was three blocks away. I am a mom to five kids- I'm not throwing away a perfectly good coffee to turn around and buy another one from their establishment. I did however tell him that I would be respectful of their policies and I would not drink my coffee while I sat at their table, and I stayed true to my word. He again asked what we wanted to drink and I insisted just water. Choosing to not accept my opinion, he disregarded me and looked to the two men at my table and ran through a list of drinks. They also told him no- repeatedly. He wouldn't accept their answer and railroaded them with drink suggestions over and over. No, just water. He continued to run through the list, pressing them to order drinks and to get rid of my coffee. NO. Just water. Finally the elder man at our table looked at the waiter and said, "Maybe I'll just drink her coffee now. Would that solve your problem?" and the waiter finally dropped the subject. We watched as one of the waitresses poured the drinks from the table into the flower pots. A bit tacky? Maybe, but also resourceful... I can see the benefit to this, but still found it odd. We ordered our food. Two orders of the kids macaroni and cheese ($8 per plate for Kraft Macaroni... literally), two children's cheeseburgers (frozen patties that were cooked until they were dry), and some yummy french fries (a positive, yay!). My husband ordered their "house" clam chowder and claimed that it tasted like the Iver's clam chowder from Costco with celery added in. Grandpa ordered the BLT and said it was good, and we had a few sporadic orders otherwise. Nothing that was overwhelmingly good or that I felt was worth what we paid. Upon his return to the table, the waiter told us the cost of the check without showing us the check. When we pressed to see the check *before paying* he did reluctantly show my husband the check on an electronic screen. He immediately began trying to distract my husband with personal stories and photos of the sunset. It worked. We were overcharged by $10 and we never received a paper copy to verify the numbers. I understand that these issues sound like small issues, they could have been if they happened quickly, but the waiter continued to press them all. His behavior was unacceptable and made us uncomfortable. If I knew of a different food establishment that could have rapidly solved my children's hunger we would have left, but alas, we are not locals, and my children's hungry bellies were more important than the adults' disdain for the service. All-in-all, I would not recommend this business to anyone. Their communication is forceful and unprofessional. Their food is cheap and store bought. Their tables are falling apart, and their food is overpriced. I understand that the food industry is a difficult market to be in, but as a customer, save yourself the energy and go somewhere that is a bit more professional.

Great place to stop for coffee

We stopped here for some coffee and had some of the best lattes ever. Noshed a bit as well. The manager/server on duty was excellent. I highly recommend this place.

    Delicious breakfast & mochas

Don't miss this one, casual beach vive with generous breakfasts expertly prepared. My eggs were sublime, the omelette was top tier, the biscuit was fresh tender and delicious. Eat here.
