The Smokehouse Restaurant is our place of choice for breakfast when we stay over in La Grande. We normally stay in the Travelodge across the road and so the location is perfect. The staff are friendly and the coffee keeps flowing. My wife always has their Eggs Benedict and I love their Meat Lovers Omelet, both of us have the Hashbrowns. Based on the flow of local customers and the friendly staff, you should not be disappointed whatever you choose.

This is totally a local restaurant for breakfast/lunch. Great service and very good food. We were traveling on I-84 and took a slight detour to get here. Very happy with the meal and service. Fast, but local. Would definitely eat here again.

The place for sit down breakfast
The staff are welcoming, the coffee is good and the servings are large. I had the eggs scrambled with green peppers and sausage, with a gravy biscuit on the side. More than I could eat. The waitress kept my coffee cup full. I plan on going back for breakfast tomorrow!

Pleasant place for breakfast with the locals
Traveling through La Grande, we looked for a non-chain restaurant for breakfast and stumbled on The Smokehouse. It was filled with locals (we looked like the only tourists) but were greeted warmly and the coffee came quickly. Breakfast had a lot of great choices (note: don't come here is you don't like large servings). My wife had "Sonny's" (French Toast with bacon) while I had the Meat and Eggs (in my case, Sausage and eggs) which came with hashbrowns, and toast. Portions were huge (we could have split one) but were nice and hot when they arrived. Prices were reasonable and service was good!
