Good food, so-so service
Pretty good meal but the service was just so-so. We sat outside & waited to be noticed. The only signage was bar 👉🏻, restaurant 👈🏻 so we checked for menus by walking inside. We were treated like, "duh... we'll be with you" as if we should've known their policies. We ordered our drinks & while it was sunny at first, it quickly turned chilly & windy. There was only one heater turned on for the entire patio. We ordered an appetizer (shrimp cocktail), the ribeye & steak sandwich. Everything was tasty but the Mr's steak was cut into in three places indicating the chef did not know if it was cooked (med rare) correctly. Hmmm. My steak sandwich was a healthy pile of steak bites on a really big bun. I'm glad we didn't order steak bites as an appetizer cuz it would've been basically the same plate. The bun was sooo big I just ate the steak pieces because the bites would've just fallen off the bread had I tried to eat it as a sammy. I wasn't asked how I wanted it prepared but the bites were really good, tender, nice spice & cheese. I brought half home. The restaurant had two birthday parties inside so totally understand we were kinda ignored - not checked on, not given the check - but they were apologetic. The food was good. I think they could do better at service. I get it's hard in a tourist-driven town but if it had been AMAZING, we'd definitely tell everybody: Hey, Go Here (we travel all over the PNW)

Excellent food, excellent service, split plate fee?
So this review is going to be a little funky...the food was great, service was exceptional but I knocked a point off for something I've seen more and more restaurants start doing and, while a personal preference/dislike, it becoming more common place. Service 5/5: Our server was extremely friendly, checked on us a number of times at the right time and was great in every way. If we had this gentleman as our server at every restaurant, the world would be a better place. It was sad to see a review in which the service was terrible because this was so far beyond what we experienced. Excellent service at Slack. Food 5/5: The sandwich was perfectly portioned, with a fair helping of fries coupled with it. The flavor was delicious and well done. Nothing fancy but also could tell someone gave a crap and while a simple sandwich, did a great job. Fries were crisp with just the right amount of salt. Price 3/5: Here's where they lose me. I get owning a restaurant is tough. I get some people are cheap too. Eating out is a privilege, not a right. I accept all these things. However, to charge a "split plate" fee is such a bad business practice. Just because my partner and I want to share a meal because we don't want a full meal each, doesn't mean we should be charged extra. If we were to split an appetizer or shareable, would we be charged the split plate? If I just wanted a drink and my partner ordered a meal and then I ate off of her place, would I get charged a split plate fee? Just really, really bad business practice. While it rubs me the wrong way, it was enough to say I probably will not go back, despite the excellent service and good eats. I know that may be ridiculous, and I accept that, still sours my mood.

Incredibly slow for an off-season night. Terrible service from the bartender.
I don't think I've ever had such slow service. It was busy, but not slammed. We sat down, and I guess it was the bartender who took our order. We managed to get our order in before a big table did, so we were hopeful. Our salads came out pretty quick, and then it was another 40 minutes with no main course. We started getting mad when the big table got their food first with 3 people serving them. I got up to ask the bartender about our food, and she was snippy and said the restaurant was full. My husband went in 10 minutes later, and she said she was busy getting drinks for people. This was the first time I've ever not tipped. It was bad, She was so rude. This happened on October 11, 2024 between 6 and 7:30 pm, in case the manager wants to do something about it.

Good atmosphere
This unique dining spot is casual & friendly with good food. The rodeo theme is well developed. We appreciated the explanation of the restaurant's name.

Sorry to impose, we just wanted lunch!
Have you ever been in a restaurant and felt like you were bothering them? We stopped in mid afternoon mid week. The place was pretty quiet but service was terrible. Order was taken quickly, food delivered, and that was the last time we saw an employee. Finished our So So meal then walked up to pay. Three employees standing around at the bar chatting, really felt like we were bothering them. They rang us up and immediately went back to talking. Lots of other good choices in Joseph, we won’t be back
