Decent food after a show
After seeing a matinee at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, we were hungry and stumbled on Ruby's. It's a little bit of a hole-in-the-wall, and I wouldn't say that the food was outstanding, but it was decent enough. We weren't disappointed!

Inedible unfriendly
I was excited to try this place, have lived nearby for over 10 years, but never checked it out. Always seems busy with a very shabby chic hippy kind of crowd that seem to love it. I ordered the jerked yardbird sandwich, sweet potato fries, and a golden smoothie. The smoothie arrived first, surprisingly small for $8, in a little mason jar. It was ok, with weird chunks at the bottom that kept getting caught in the straw. The sandwich and fries came next, and that's when things got difficult. The sandwich was impossible to eat as a sandwich; the bread was too hard and too wide to take a bite out of, and the meager amount of filling ingredients that were there, fell everywhere. So it became a little salad with bread. The sweet potato fries were sharp and very hard, with skins still on. They stabbed my gums and hurt my teeth. I considered saying something, but the bored and exasperated person attending the register was already dealing with the influx of loud regulars, crowding around me in the extremely tiny dining area; and they all seemed so thrilled to be there. I got the impression that people were there to be a part of and consume an image, rather than good food. But maybe I just got unlucky with my order. I don't know, I don't plan on returning when there are so many other delicious and much more comfortable options in Ashland.

Fun Place
It's a fast food type place with lots of options for meat eaters, vegetarians too! The food is yummy. The atmosphere is fun, you can sit inside or outside.

Breakfast burritos!!!
This is the greatest. Nice vibe and great food. Breakfast burritos are good to-go or eating there. Will definitely return!

Poor customer service --servers seem to want to be anywhere else than here.
Meh. Ruby's is going downhill. I know everyone is taxed these days, but servers are scowling...as if customers are an inconvenience. Two tables out front don't have umbrellas, so that makes mid day seating options limited. Seems like every employee had to walk back and take a smoke break several times during a half hour span. It's feeling sort of gritty and worn out...like they're tired of us.
