Steakhouse and cocktail lounge serving steak, seafood and burgers since 1946.
West coast main stay with treats and drinks
The traditional restaurant on the south side of Ashland is typical American food of West Coast style. Easy going in the pub lounge, you are getting served great steaks in the dining hall. I have tried over the last month multiple dishes - some were bar food main stays (tater tots, wings), all were prepared deliciously and did not disappoint me. Their happy hour (4- 6 pm) theme offers generally the same menu, but the $2 items get you going to taste test even their oysters. Also, a lively crowd of regular patrons makes the evening visits always enjoyable, as does the superb service in speed quality and friendliness. I definitely will visit Omar's again in the coming weeks.
Old School Dining at its Best
We love old-school seafood restaurants, and Omar's fit the bill. The decor is throwback, the service is friendly, and the food is great. We each had a tasty dinner salad, and the parmesan snapper with whipped potatoes and sauteed veggies - fish cooked perfectly and sides seasoned well. They had a nice Oregon pinot gris by the glass, which was a perfect accompaniment to our meal. Highly recommend Omar's!!
The best you'll find 500 miles north or south!
Other reviewers claim that Omar's is the best restaurant between Sacramento and Portland. More like the best between San Francisco and Seattle! The shrimp and grits more than passed the test by my friend from Georgia/Florida. The halibut stood up to anything Anthony's or Alioto's offers, and the New York was on par with both Metropolitan Grill and Tadich Grill. The steak fries we had lack any competition. Period. Great prices, excellent service and superior cocktails make Omar's the best you can find 500 miles north or south!
One of the oldest restaurants still going strong in Ashland
Do make reservations here or at any of the Ashland restaurants. We visited in the "off season" and it was tough finding an opening for dinner. Parking extremely limited so better to park on the street. Food portion was probably more than we could eat. Menu was limited as they seem to running out of entrees due to the amount of people but would still highly recommend for seafood or steak.
You can figure it will be good when the locals are there. The food was very good and served by a friendly bartender/waitress.
