I have lived in Newport for over 20 years, and I have never been treated soo poorly by any other buisness in the world! Came in with my wife to have a drink with a friend, stood at the bar for a few minutes, not even being greeted. Then told to have a seat anywhere, sat down at a booth, 20 minutes later still no service, went back up to the bar asked one of the servers if we could get a drink, she said did one of the other servers already get a drink? (REALLY?!!) Asked her what ciders they had, she said loganberry, and began pouring a glass of it. I said wait, I asked what ciders you have? She said that's it and walked away from us saying that she is way too busy for us. (Like really? 4 tables is too much for 2 servers?) Sorry to say that we will never be back
Good clam chowder. There are a lot of places on the coast to get chowder, but good chowder is hard to find. Thick, good clam flavor, and fast service.
Six of us ate here while visiting the Aquarium and other sites around Newport. We enjoyed our dinner there and would come back again. I had the calamari and it was very good as was the halibut sandwich my other half had. We would return.
On our vacation we ate here twice. The food is excellent, best clam chowder in Newport! My husband had the flat iron steak and it was prepared perfectly. They allowed me to substitute the potato for a salad. The salads are very good and fresh. I had the captains platter and they let me select grilled instead of deep fried. Everything was delicious! They were very accommodating and the service was great even though they were very short staffed. I recommend eating in the bar area for more of a cozy dinner atmosphere. The other dining room is more like a diner. The prices are extremely reasonable.
Nothing I could eat that we could afford because of a restricted diet, so ended up getting a tiny 'dinner' salad. Plain, small, and BITTER???????!!!!! So bitter that my tongue felt funny for at least an hour after! Just glad we don't have to eat there again. I will say, their wrap special that hubby had looked delicious and worth the money
