So many choices - it was hard to pick! Delicious beer and brats. It was nice enough to eat outside. Service was cheerful and quick.
Wow, it's hard to know where to start! I can't even walk in the place without the smell making me hungry, sauerkraut, mustard and sausage. Not much better! Great fries too. Then there's the store, you can buy barvarian treats, desserts and every imaginable type of sausage. All made by them! My friend, nephew and I took home 3 bags full of sausage, pork loin and all sorts of treats! I plan on visiting more often!
Mt. Angel has that small town feel and character while less than an hour from Portland and 30 minutes from Salem. It is the home of the largest Octoberfest in Oregon every year in early fall. And the center of the event is the Mt. Angel Sausage Company. All sausages, meats, sides, and deserts are made on site. We shared a homemade pretzel with warm mild fondue for dipping. The pretzel while a little salty was crisp outside and tender inside. We both had Bratwurst on a bun but in different combos, the Mount Angel Melt & Ranch Style. The brats were excellent, with a nice bite and not overly spicy. The only weak spot was the bun, it was too soft and could not hold up to the moisture in the brats and condiments. The German potato salad was fantastic served warm and a real rich bite to it. I nice seasonal selection of Munich beers are available on top, and were very good. The staff was friendly, informative, and prompt. Prices were reasonable for good food. And the real joy of this place is the deli and freezer cases, full of all the sausages. Products, and German made specialties. I’ll bring an ice chest next trip. We were very full and happy when we left.
Great food sitting outside on the patio or inside by the fire. Good German classics. Our family has a lot of food sensitivities and since the sausages are all available for sale in the store it's easy to review detailed ingredients prior to ordering. Two thumbs up!
