The Worst BiBimBap I've Ever Had
After reading all of the glowing reviews, we decided to visit this restaurant on a recent visit to Salem. When we arrived it was packed, which I took as a good sign. Our order was very simple. 2 orders of dol sot bibimbap and 2 hot teas. We got our pickles. Then a pancake thing. Then our main dish. Still no tea. So, we asked again. I think the issue is that some of the Hispanic waitstaff don't speak English. Finally, an older waitress came over and asked what kind of tea, since they had a few to choose from. By the time we finally got our tea we were nearly finished with our meal. The bibimbap was underwhelming. We ordered it with beef, which should have been bulgogi. What we got was plain ground beef. Yuck. Also, everyone around us got a slice of watermelon after their meal. We did not. All in all, a very disappointing experience and we will not be returning.

Total excellence!
I don’t think I’ve been to a better Korean restaurant. Not only were our Dol Sot Bi Bim Baps top-of-the-notch, but the ambiance and staff backed up the food with the same degree of excellence. Located downtown Salem, Happy BiBim Bap House is an extremely popular restaurant, at least it was when we went. Fortunately we arrived early and were able to find a table quickly; by the time we left, there were several families waiting, but turnover was so fast, I don’t think anyone waited too long. This is a family-run restaurant if there ever was one. We could tell that everyone had a stake in the game, that everyone truly cared about the job at hand and the people who sat down. Our classic main dish was superb and filling, a hot stone bowl of seasoned vegetables over rice served with egg yolk on top and our choice of beef, chicken, tofu or pork. We went with chicken, and it was quite tasty. Prior to and even after the Dol Sot Bi Bim Bap, we were served traditional kimchi appetizers, including the best marinated bean sprouts ever savored by the jaws of Cherry Wonderdog. Staff was quite generous in replenishing our portions upon request. Add to all of this a menu of prices that were surprisingly low and you’ve got a combination that rivals some of the better dining experiences in Cherry Wonderdog’s worldly travel. Five stars way up for Happy Bibim Bap House!

Great experience
The owner and staff are super friendly and the food is excellent. We can really recommend that place to everyone who loves korean food. After we finished dinner they gave us some leftover pancakes to take home. 10/10 would eat again at this place

Changed and not for the better
I had been devoted to this place for years, but moved out of town a year ago, now the kabi which had been excellent now is made with sauce from a jar. I hope this was a one time thing. Very sad

Great lunch
Had the sHot stone bowl for lunch, and it was excellent . It was still sizzling 5 minutes after it was served, so was able to get the rice really crispy. The appetizer dishes that come gratis with your meal are all very good. Service was quick and prices reasonable.
