Horrible food prep, unless you like hair and entire salt shaker…
Hair in soup, noticed after many mouthfuls. Apologized for it. Ordered Bolognese and it tasted like the lid came off the salt shaker, burnt the roof of my mouth, ankles swelled a bit next day. Apologized and took 1/2 off. Seems there’s zero quality control. At their prices they could do better. Bad night or standard practice? I can tell you I’ll never know because I wouldn’t go back to find out.

Tourist Trap! Frozen peas with $70 Steak
After looking at the menu online, we came here expecting a fine dining experience. It was anything but. It was a moderately busy Friday night, but no one seemed rushed. Gogi's has a nice bar, but no bartender, so wait staff have to make their own drinks. It was 40 minutes from the time we sat down until drinks came, much too long. We discussed leaving. The berry cocktail was great, lots of berry flavor and well balanced. But the peach one was bland and watery. Started with the sauteed broccolini. Tough and bitter, not even al dente. The tomato reduction with hazelnuts was pretty good. The "compressed" watermelon salad was confusing. It was mostly spring mix from a bag with fresh watermelon chunks and cucumber strips (what does compressed mean?). Not a very imaginitive menu for such a pricey place, mostly large cuts of protein, some with a sauce. So I ordered the ribeye with peas and duck fat potatoes for $70. The ribeye was full of gristle and globs of fat, obviously the end cut close to the chuck, not a good quality piece of meat. On top was a dollop of BOTTLED barbecue sauce (gel-like texture, full of modified food starch). The "duck fat" potatoes were mashed - not prepared in a way that highlights the used of duck fat - and weren't even creamy or flavorful. But the kicker - the peas are frozen from a bag! Frozen peas on a $70 entree! The manager said they couldn't get fresh from the supplier, yet we're at the height of pea season right now. A decent chef would sustitute something fresh and change the menu. My friend ordered balsamic strawberry ice cream for dessert. It looked like a bunch of half scoops dug out of the bottom of the tub in a cereal bowl. No garnish. No presentation. Ugly. This restaurant is very pricey. The owners spared no expense in creating a website that suggests a special experience. There were six of us; I'm a former Ritz-Carlton chef, and my friends are experienced foodies. I came away feeling ripped off. The others were unimpressed with their meals. It's clear the owners are unwilling to hire a chef or a bartender, and the service and food are substandard. When I expressed my dissatisfaction at such astronomical prices for less than mediocre food, the manager said "The owners set the prices". Jacksonville has a tourist economy. It's clear that the owners are interested only in fleecing tourists out of their vacation money, and don't care in repeat business. STAY AWAY!

Gogi's in Jacksonville, Oregon
We went to dinner with our adult son and his girlfriend - they had been there before and loved it. I wasn't pleased to see the bistro-style atmosphere as I prefer a quieter dining experience but, even though the restaurant was full, the noise wasn't bad. The server was friendly and efficient and the food was INCREDIBLE! I ordered scallops that were beyond a doubt, the best I've had in years. Hubby and son had steaks - cooked to perfection. Girlfriend had salmon that was great. The presentation was great. All in all, a very enjoyable experience. Will go back again.

Good but not great!
This is a good restaurant, no doubt. The atmosphere is much nicer than it was years ago ( pre pandemic). It is bright, cozy and welcoming. The service is also excellent. Why did I only give it 3 Stars?? Gogi’s is one of the most expensive restaurants in the Rogue Valley. For its pricepoint one expects an above average, superior meal that is not found in other lesser restaurants. Sadly this is not the case. Their menu is good but not special. When a restaurant charges premium prices it is incumbent upon them to deliver premium, above average food. If Gogi’s prices were more in line with its food I would have given it a higher rating. The Ribeye for $50 was nothing special and Duck confit for a little less was average. I do not mind spending $$ for a superior dining experience but Gogi’s I regret, is not worth its price point.

I have never felt felt more UNWELCOME in a restaurant!!!!!!
My daughter and I were in town for my niece’s wedding and we saw that this restaurant had great ratings on Trip Advisor, so we decided to give it a try. We called and asked for a reservation at 5:15 and we WERE late — we got there at 5:30. There were only two tables occupied at the time, so it did not seem to be an issue and they did not say it was a problem. I asked for a booth or a table on the sides b/c I cannot hear out of one ear, and tables located in the center of the room can make it very challenging for me to hear, once the restaurant gets crowded. Even though there were about 7 open areas that would have worked, the waitress checked with the manager and said they were all taken. (It is a small, intimate restaurant with around 12 tables). At that point, I really wanted to leave b/c I already had a bad vibe. It was more in the delivery of the message and I just thought that it was not true—-they could have easily made the accommodation. I felt that they knew we were tourists (which we were) and they did not really care. My daughter wanted to stay b/c the food looked really good and it was starting to rain and we really did not have a plan B. Sooooo…. We stayed and it was super uncomfortable (especially for my 23 year old daughter ). We both felt extremely unwelcome and that they just wanted us out of there. I truly have never felt more unwelcome in a restaurant in my entire life!!! They were not overtly rude and our service was fine — everything came out in a timely manner and the food was good. We gave it a B plus, overall. The beet salad was to die for and the salmon was delicious. Over the course of the evening, my daughter and I kept saying — what the heck????? We have not done anything wrong!!!! It was even more odd, considering the restaurant was run by all women. You would think they would be nice to women! We knew it was not just our imagination when, towards the end of our meal, ONE of the waitstaff (not our original server) brought something out to our table and not only engaged in a conversation with us, but continued to check on us for the rest of the meal. I made sure to get her name (Cheyenne) b/c I did not want to lump her in with this negative review. I am not sure if this is a town that does not like tourists or maybe they were just having an off night, or what, but I would ABSOLUTELY not go there if you are in town visiting!!!!!! Also —- if you check my reviews on Trip Advisor —- I rarely write a negative review, but this was so blatant that I felt an obligation to do so. I still left a 20% tip, but it was hard to do so and, as we left, not one person said good bye or thank you.
