Unfortunately, our dinner was disappointing overall. Our waiter was a nice guy, but he seemed poorly trained and not very attentive. He would put things down and walk away without checking on us, was rarely around, and never offered to refill my water even when my glass was nearly empty. When my son ordered salmon, the waiter didn’t even ask how he wanted it cooked—I had to prompt him to ask. The food was very uneven. My sea scallops were surprisingly small, about half the size of the sea scallops I’m accustomed to, and the vegetables were only partially cooked and had virtually no seasoning. The crab cake was mostly filling with very little crab. My son wanted his salmon medium rare, but it arrived well done. It still tasted reasonably good—in fact, I thought it was better than my scallops—but it definitely wasn’t cooked as requested. The bright spot was the clam chowder. My friend thought it was excellent. Overall, there were some good elements, but between the inattentive service and several problems with the entrées, the experience fell well short of what we expected.

Needs server training
We always eat at Doogers and have for years. Consistently good food and service. (Overlooking a server who ARGUED with us about a human hair vs “sourkraut” on our tuna fillet Rueben sandwich.) Great authentic key lime pie!

I have no cons to report about this restaurant. Everything was perfect from beginning to end. Our server”Hawaiian Kid” has worked at Dooger’s for 29 years, and her experience, knowledge and friendly attitude should be an example for all. The clam chowder was the best we’ve ever tasted, the fried prawns were delicious and not in the least greasy, and the deep dish apple crisp with ice cream was a real treat. The area is congested but there is free on street parking. This spot is Seaside may have been around for years but they are still providing excellence in food and service.

We actually went to Iggy's, but Doogers makes the food. I ordered the captains plate and was less than impressed. My oldest daughter ordered an Admirals plate and was seriously less than impressed!! I don't care for the way you cut your calamari, why not leave them in rings and serve the tentacles as well? The breading was coming off almost everything, especially the scallops. The atmosphere and drinks were amazing, but the main course was not great. The clam chowder and salads were great, the appetizer was again calamari and super not impressed!

Bad experience from the moment we walked in the door. For a busy day in Seaside, the emptiness of restaurant was a clue as to how our visit would unfold. Barely acknowledged by the 3 hosts standing there. Led, without a word, to our table with dirty chairs. Waitress was ok. But those were the worst fish and chips we've ever had! Dry halibut with thin, under cooked batter. The looked like spring rolls. Soggy sweet potato fries. Grandson's burger was dry but he said it tasted OK. Any other place would have been a better choice. Very disappointing!
