Had the chicken fried steak. The steak and country gravy was good. The hash browns were average. asked for sunny side up eggs. The three eggs came on separate plate because the Steak and hash browns took up the first plate.(which means the portions were generous) sunny side up eggs are hard to do and the whites were still a little runny. Very busy lots a people all of the plates ordered on the other tables looked very good. Good comfort food..
It has been a while since I was able to stop. I did notice the building has been painted a light green. My friend and I had finished our grocery shopping early and decided to have a late breakfast. She had the Eggs Benedict, I had French Toast and a side of bacon. Her Eggs Benedict with home fries was well prepared and she said the sauce tasted home made and was a rich yellow color. My French toast contained 3 slices of "Texas" toast, sliced in half, powdered sugar and butter had topped them. My side of bacon was crisp and cold. I was offered a butter/honey syrup that is a house specialty. I did taste it, but found it very sweet. I do not normally use any syrup. The coffee was hot and a carafe was left on the table for us to use to refill our cups. Water was by request. My friend's fork was dirty, but she obtained a clean one quickly. Our meal cost was $26.50 The place was busy, so service was a bit spotty. We did have a good meal.
This is a throwback, down home, family type of restaurant that has a menu loaded with wonderful options. It's a family run place and I believe the owner's were part of the staff working that day. Everyone was very friendly. You can't be in a hurry because everything is made fresh and without a rush. But the wait is worth it. The food was delicious, the portions were large, and the prices were good. Come hungry and take your time to enjoy a disappearing type of restaurant.
It's walking distance from home so really wish it were better but no. It is one of the pricier places to have breakfast and service is extremely slow So much so that we ended up walking out on our last two tries. The final straw was watching the waitress take orders from a LARGE group that arrived 10 minutes after the two of us. Will not be going back.
Patty melt had unmelted cheese, the "rubber" sliced cheese. I was never checked on or offered a refill on my iced tea, even though I had a clear glass that could be seen across the room. It was just normal-busy at lunch time.
