Years and years ago when, long before there was an old shack under what is now the Cowboy Dinner Tree, the ranchers from Paisley, Summer Lake and Siver Lake pushed their cattle through Sycan trail enroute to the lush meadows of the Sycan Marsh. By the time the cowboys had moved the cattle from Silver Lake lake bed to the Dinner Tree, it was considered the half-way point. There, the chuck wagon was waiting to serve-up some buckeroo beans and biscuits. Today after all these many years, the Cowboy Dinner Tree still serves-up the beans and bread, along with a slab of beef that most cowboys would only dream of on the trail.

Authentic Cowboy Dinner!
The location is in the juniper/sagebrush area with several ranches. While waiting for the dinner, horseshoes play and cornhole are waiting for you to entertain. There is a gift shop onsite for you to explore. The food service is excellent, serving by the ranch ladies. They're very friendly to chat with. The food is excellent with large steak (around 28-30 oz) or a whole chicken, along with salad, beans, potato and delicious dessert! They have a take home baggie if you couldn't eat the whole meal! Notice that they use cash only! Think of the old west using cash, not the high tech.

Excellent, worth the drive
Excellent quality of food, excellent service also. This is well worth the effort. Call for reservations and bring cash. I highly recommend this place!! I will come back for sure. The day I was there one of the servers was very knowledgeable about gluten so I was safely eating gluten free.

The best food and experience, treated like beloved family.
Even though it was a bit of a drive for us, well worth it! The location is perfect and adds to the cowboy dinning experience. The restaurant itself is like a rustic cabin feel with many interesting and cowboy/country memorabilia. The food was absolutely amazing, not what you would expect. It was like chuck wagon type but with great flavor. Lot of love obviously went into it. I had the chicken and was surprised when I received a whole chicken! Crispy, well seasoned. Our soup was rustic bean, hardy and reminded me of my Mom’s, delicious. The rolls were the best part for me because they were warm, buttery, flakey, yummy! Even though I’m supposed to avoid wheat, I could not resist! Well worth it and amazingly enough, had no issues. That alone speaks of how well made they are. Our dessert was a berry mix shortcake. Perfect ending to an amazing meal and experience. Our waitress was Amy and I can not speak enough of how wonderful she was! I felt like we were family and she was pouring out blessings us!

Best steak and chicken dinner
No frills, but the food is perfectly seasoned, portions are amazing, the rolls are to die for!! The steak was better than we have had at 5 star restaurants, and the chicken was amazing, the skin was crispy and delicious. The staff had a down home feel, like we were at a friend's home for dinner. A must for any occasion.
