Great food, large portions, top notch service, and very friendly. Looks like it is where the locals eat. I highly recommend it!
We were in the area for an appointment and weren't sure where to eat. We lucked into this place. I could see we had picked well when it looked like it was full of locals in an area that draws a lot of tourism. The service was great and our server was very friendly and helpful telling us about various dishes which were particularly popular. One of the workers was wearing a shirt that read "If you leave here hungry it's you own fault" and it certainly is true! All of their portions are generous. I've been trying to get lots of protein so I opted for the 1 pound ham steak with 3 eggs, hash browns, and toast. It was enormous! With one large plate for just the ham and another full large plate for everything else. Even though I was starving there was no way I could finish it. Everything tasted great including their homemade hash browns. I hadn't realized just how much a pound of ham was and was only able to power through about half of it and took the rest home. An incredible deal for only $17 it would easily make 2 FULL meals. In closing I would say that although it was a favorite of the locals our server was very friendly and made us feel right at home! I wish this place was closer to home although I know my waistline would suffer from it. But I will definitely be eating here any time I am in the area! A definite real find!

Best Breakfast Cafe Ever
Is there a more perfect All American cafe than the Cheyenne? They open at 6:00 AM and a few regulars are sitting in their cars waiting for opening bell. The regulars walk right to the cups and coffee pot. Yes, there is even the mandatory table for locals who solve the world's problems every day. I haven't even mention the best part. Besides the hostess/server/moderator & gate keeper (she's wonderful) is the food. As they say: "If you leave hungry, it's your fault." Large portions of exceptionally good food. Do not miss this place!

Only in Joseph 2 days, but this was so good the first day we went back the second!
If you like lots of good food and good service -- and enjoyed eating "where the locals eat" -- this is the place for you! We enjoyed it so much the first day, we went back the second (and we were only in Joseph two days). Our waitress even took our water bottles and filled them with ice for us (at our request) -- so friendly and helpful. In the morning, the place is filled with local farmers having their breakfast, so it might be touch to get a table, but they are open early and it's worth it if you have to wait! They also have outdoor seating on picnic tables.

Delicious Breakfast, Friendly Atmosphere, Excellent Service
Delicious! This is obviously a favorite location for locals and visitors alike, and we can definitely see why. The cafe itself is simply decorated, the tables arranged where you can get both medium groups and couples seated easily. There was one server for the whole cafe and she was pretty amazing. She was moving quickly and efficiently, making sure nobody was left unattended, that tables were cleared quickly and yet, she didn't give the impression of being in a hurry when she was helping anyone. We ordered one of their "Giant Cinnamon Rolls" to share, and coffee while we waited for our breakfast. I'd say it was a large cinnamon roll, though I don't know I'd go so far as calling it giant. What I WILL say is that it was soft and fluffy, very cinnamony, and slathered with melty butter. It wasn't a TALL cinnamon roll, but every bit was and delicious. My husband ordered the Chicken Fried Steak, which came with hash browns, toast and eggs. The chicken fried steak was good, and the gravy tasted like it may have been made fresh, rather than out of a packet. Not bad at all! I ordered something called a Meadow Muffin, primarily because the name made me chuckle. It was good! It was a toasted English muffin, with a slice of ham, eggs and cheese, with hash browns covered with gravy. The only thing I can say is that I would have preferred it if the hash browns were a little crispier under the gravy, but they weren't bad, just more soft than I prefer. Next time I'll ask for them to be more crisp. We did enjoy that when we arrived, a table of law enforcement officers were enjoying a hearty breakfast before they headed out to serve their community, and tables full of locals were gathered to swap tales and sip coffee. You could tell they were locals and frequent customers because a couple of them got up to serve themselves more coffee when the server was busy, and one went to far as to grab the pot and wander around the cafe serving more coffee to anyone who needed more. Now THAT is a friendly, local place where anyone an feel at home immediately.
