Chapala catered a large on-farm wedding yesterday. I was skeptical BUT it was fantastic. The appetizer guacamole was so fresh with very little spice. And the main course buffet was awesome; choice of taco bowl or wrap; then each guest got to choose how to fill it. They had every diet request covered, and ways to turn up the spice. My taco bowl with wonderful pork also had rice, beans, tomato, lettuce, cheese, homemade salsa, guacamole and sour cream.
Do yourself a favor and skip this place. If you are looking for authentic Mexican, this is not the place. I would not recommend it nor ever go back. In addition, it is pricey for the below average experience. The only good thing was the chips.
The bean soup had absolutely no smell and almost no flavor. The tortilla soup tasted like Campbell's vegetable soup with some chicken and a glob if cheese floating in it. The chicken used in the enchiladas and burritos had no flavor. The quesadilla tasted exactly like taco bell's. In fact, most of the food was so tasteless it had us wondering if we caught COVID. The meal was a complete bummer, especially because we spent almost $100.
The positives are the varied menu with friendly services and large portions! It's very family friendly and good for large groups. The down sides, it could be a little cleaner, the acoustics suck (don't go there if you have hearing loss and want a intimate conversation, it's also LOUD!).The chips are fresh and the salsa great. The margaritas could use a little more tequila :)
First time trying this, was highly recommended by friends. We thought it was just ok. Tried the chicken enchiladas - they were a bit dry, and strangely, the creamy sauce had a sweet aftertaste. the chips and salsa were good. Margarita, was fine, nothing remarkable about the entire visit. Not sure that we would go back
