Chans Restaurant is a family oriented restaurant that’s been in silverton for over 40 years. They serve Chinese and American food.
They appear to be trying to make their food from scratch but are failing. The food was bland and lacked salt. What flavor there actually is was not good. Egg flower soup had a strange plastic flavor. The General Tso’s chicken had a good crisp in places but it had no salt and what flavor it did have wasn’t good. Silverton needs a good Chinese restaurant.
Chan's may not be the most cutting edge Chinese restaurant in Oregon, but the food is good and well-prepared. This restaurant has been a staple in Silverton for decades, and we love it. The Chan family is respected and hard-working. Love the fried shrimp!
Ray Chan and his family have had this restaurant for many years, and I have always been satisfied with the experience.. (It has been our standard Christmas Eve dinner place for over 40 years...) Don't expect any fancy decor, etc--Silverton is a small town, after all--) Chan's is one of the few restaurants in Silverton that has survived throughout the years, because of the local clientele, the good food, and Ray himself!
Great Chinese food
Chan's have been a staple of Silverton, OR for over 40 years. I think you either love it or don't like it. They can serve American cheeseburger and fries (steak fries, my fave) or Chinese beef and brocolli. There was a recent renovation and there are new booth seats.
Lots of food served but it had no taste and greasy. I wouldn't eat there again. Small meat portion covered with thick batter.
