The people were friendly and tried to be helpful, but the food was awful.
We ordered two sides Cole slaw and some kind of cheesy mashed potatoes and a half pound of brisket for one thing the brisket is not chopped, or sliced and they must have trimmed the fat off before they smoked it because it was dryer than beef jerky shredded like roast, and they forgot to give us any sauce. The mashed potatoes were brown, the Cole slaw was dry. We went back for sauce, and they gave us 4 single servings we each made a sandwich, and we used two containers of sauce each and they were still so dry it was hard to chew up and swallow the other half of the meat went to the dog. I haven't tried anything else there and most likely won't. Being from the south originally, I can say without a doubt anything like this served down there would be returned.

Great Brisket sandwich
I was a little hesitant to go because of the kinds of reviews I saw online, but I was dragged to this place to have dinner. I had the brisket sandwich twice and it was soft, not dry, unlike what some others were saying in reviews. So maybe something changed, but I went to the restaurant twice during the week, and each sandwich was nice and soft. I also had an apple pie, so good and had that nice homemade taste and feel. I was pleased with the experiences. If found this place to be one of the best places in town. You get good portions for the prices you pay too.

Hungry for BBQ
Ordered the BBQ brisket sandwich and tots (corn muffin balls). The meat was tough and did NOT break down while chewing and chewing. Ended up using a fork and knife and drowning it in sauce. Very disappointed and probably my last visit there.

Pretty good
I’ve been here several times for the ribs (they’re probably the best and most affordable ones here in Salem) and they’re always quite tasty! The food is ready (for pickup) quickly, and the cashier is always very friendly. The sides that I’ve tried are ok, nothing phenomenal, but the ribs, which is what I come for, are never disappointing.
