It's OK Could Improve
When we arrived, we first walked into the bar area, which also has tables. We quickly realized there is a separate dining area if you don’t want the pub feel. We stood by a small counter unsure whether we should seat ourselves, and a man came over, handed us menus, and told us we could sit wherever we liked.
After a few minutes, a waitress came by to take drink orders. I ordered an iced tea and my son had iced water. I stepped away briefly and came back to find the tea arrived with only a few ice cubes, but it was fresh brewed and very good. I wanted sweetener, so I got up to find someone. When I finally found the waitress, she brought me a tray with pink sweetener and regular sugar. I asked for ice but never received any. We also never received offers of refills. At $4 a cup, it would have been nice to get one or at least offer.
I ordered the three-piece fish and chips, though the menu didn’t say what kind of fish it was. My son ordered the BBQ smash burger. The menu appeared to offer a choice of chowder, so I asked for a cup of clam chowder. The waitress said okay, but didn’t clarify. I should have asked more questions, because what came out was a bowl of “three fish soup” instead of clam chowder. It contained clam, salmon, and something listed as “local fish.” I’m not sure what that means. My son and I both tried a couple of bites, but we didn’t care for it. We had really been expecting clam chowder.
When our meals arrived, the waitress dropped them off and rushed away again. I had to get up once more to find silverware and napkins. I understand this is a new restaurant, having opened in November 2025, but good staff training is especially important during that phase.
As for my fish and chips, I still have no idea what kind of fish it was, and the waitress didn’t seem to know either. I couldn’t tell if it was cod or halibut. Unfortunately, the batter around the fish was rubbery and tough, almost like jerky, making it difficult to eat. I also didn’t care for the coleslaw and left it after one taste.
My son, however, really enjoyed his BBQ smash burger. He said the combination of flavors was surprisingly delicious and not too spicy. The only thing he didn’t like was the house-made pickles, as they were sweet, which he’s not a fan of. I honestly wish I had ordered the burger instead.
We would be willing to try this place again, especially to sample the pretzel board, albacore tuna melt, and nachos. I do recommend they clearly list what fish is used in the fish and chips, explain what “local fish” means, and describe the batter.
The menu itself is fantastic. I hated giving this a three-star review, but I’m hoping that with time and better training, I can update it to a higher rating in the future.
