Nature beautifully illustrated and explained
This is a pleasant place to learn about the natural world and the local area. Geared for children, we as adults enjoyed it too. The murals depicting nature and the animals therein are quite lovely and the information stands located around add to the experience. There's a soundtrack too to add to the ambiance. Only a few kids running around when we were there. Nice gift shop. Very clean.

Coastal Vision
I'm glad to add another 5 stars, as in all previous reviews, for this well-designed, information-packed gateway to a beautiful stretch of the Oregon coast. Murals by Peggy O'Neal (albinocrowgallery.com) are a unique addition to exhibits on the nature and history of the area. The outside deck offers a beautiful view of the river as well as a restaurant.

Highly Recommended Museum
We were pleasantly surprised by how impressive this museum was for being in a relatively small town. It had a range of exhibits focused on the local area, including history from Native Americans on, wildlife, etc. There is also a periscope-like telescope to look at nearby things, including an osprey nest. It was interactive, keeping the kids entertained for a long while. It included many gorgeous murals by a local artist.

Beautiful murals of nature
Impressive. Well-curated, beautiful hand-painted murals, fun and facts. Motion sensors activate voices that talk about the scene you’re standing in front of. Several well-made videos available. Cleaner than most museums.

Great place
The discovery center has a great gift shops with plenty of items to choose from. The exhibits have alot of reading to learn of the history of the area, bear cave for kids, and local Native American info. You can stay for 30 min to 2 hrs or more. Located on the Umpqua river.
