Not Worth the Price -- Especially After What Happened in the Wave Pool
My husband and I decided to give our kids, ages 4 and 7, one final hurrah to celebrate the end of summer. Unfortunately, our visit to Wings & Waves was an absolute disaster. First, the price is steep for what you get. We paid $144 for our family of four, plus another $20 for the locker and inner tube fees for the slides. Buying tickets online does save quite a bit, but even then, youāre looking at around $164 for a family of four -- and thatās without buying any food -- and you only get four hours. We packed a picnic to avoid spending even more money inside. Unfortunately, the biggest issue wasnāt the price. The cleanliness of the facility was genuinely shocking. The pools were so murky that you could barely see your feet, and the chlorine was so strong that my eyes were burning. There was visible mold and rust throughout the facility, and everything seemed to have a layer of grime on it. The showers were particularly gross, with slow drains and an overall feeling that the place desperately needed a deep cleaning. Then came the incident that completely ruined the experience for us. My husband and our 7-year-old were in the wave pool while I was entering with our younger child. Suddenly, my husband and son came running out yelling, āGet out of the pool! The kid next to me just threw up!ā A child had vomited in the wave pool AND THE POOL WAS NOT CLOSED. People continued getting in and out of the water, with hundreds of people potentially exposed. We were absolutely horrified and immediately became concerned about viruses and contamination. For the life of me, I cannot understand why the pool wasnāt immediately cleared and sanitized. At that point, we tried to salvage the day elsewhere, but there werenāt many good options. The vortex was incredibly crowded with no apparent limit on the number of people, the childrenās forest play area repeatedly dumped enormous barrels of water on everyone every few minutes (my kids were actually scared of it rather than having fun), and the hot tub was closed. I spent much of the day cold as a result. We barely even bothered with the slides after my husband waited a very long time for one and the kids were intimidated by them (they are young, and it seemed that other kids were not). I really wanted this to be a fun end-of-summer adventure for our kids, and instead we left feeling dirty, uncomfortable, and genuinely concerned about our safety. Iām not someone who is easily grossed out. Iām usually easygoing, flexible, and pretty oblivious to little details that might bother other people. For me to walk away from a place feeling this horrified says a lot. I sincerely hope management takes a hard look at the cleanliness, water quality, crowd control, and most importantly, how they handle a contamination incident in one of the pools. At this price, I expected a clean, safe, enjoyable family experience. We absolutely did not get that.

21+ night
My husband and I attended their most recent 21+ night at the water park. It was scheduled from 8pm to midnight. We showed up at about 8:20 and there was still a very long line out the door for them to check bags. We waited in this line for about 20 minutes to get inside to find that we needed to wait in another night for them to scan our tickets. After that line, low and behold there was another line to wait in for innertubes and lockers. Since it was just my husband and I on a date night, a locker was required so we could spend time together in the pools. We waited in that line for 45 minutes. While standing in that line we heard talk that they were out of lockers. I asked an employee if they actually were out of lockers and was advised that they were not sure. We stayed in the line and there were a few more lockers left. But upon entry we were told that there was no reentry if we left. So that got rid of the option of putting our items in our car. I spoke to an employee about this and they told me, "Theft doesn't happen much here." I do not feel comfortable leaving all of my valuables unattended to spend time with my husband. We waited in lines for a total of an hour and half before being able to even enjoy our night. We then went to get food which was fine and we had no complaints. But the ticket price was high since this was a special event and included all you can eat food. My complaint here was there was no water available with the food and the only option to get water was to wait in ANOTHER line where they were selling alcohol which we did not wish to purchase. We opted not to get anything to drink despite it being incredibly warm inside the building and we just ate dinner. After eating we decided to go in the wave pool and watch the movie they had playing. We could not hear the movie at all. The subtitles were not on for the beginning of the movie which made it impossible to watch. Overall, the entire place felt very dirty. The floors were disgusting, and the pools looked very murky. I felt gross leaving the place. We heard people complaining the entire night of the same things we were seeing. The tickets also seemed to be oversold and there were way too many people allowed in, and they were still selling tickets at the doors. My husband and I ended up leaving at about 10:45 because we simply were not enjoying ourselves and the standing in lines for almost two hours ruined the evening. I did ask to speak to the manager when we were leaving, and he was very disinterested and clearly did not care about my complaints or issues. This was my first time coming here and likely my last. I have been going to waterparks my entire life and have never had such a terrible experience overall. I would not recommend attending a 21+ night unless you love waiting in lines or are willing to leave your personal items elsewhere.

We will do this again!
We took 3 grandkids , ages 6-9. They loved the aqua play area with two fun slides and the wave and vortex pools. They had a terrific time and want to go back. Next time they want to brave the more thrilling slides. The 4 hour session window is just right. We spent about the same as admission and ride bracelets at the county fair and the kids had more fun and got some exercise. All areas were clean, the fine food was quick hot dogs and pizza allowing the kids to get back to play. Staff members were friendly and attentive. LIfeguards seemed especially alert to monitoring safety.

4 hour stand off
I would like to tell you that a 71-year-old grandmother, who had just completed a year of fighting breast cancer, stood just inside the front entrance of Wings & Waves for four hours while her three grandsons enjoyed the park because she couldnāt accompany them without paying full admission for attractions she had no intention of using. But I canāt honestly tell you that. The truth is, I chose to stand there on principle. I had absolutely no intention of swimming, using the slides, or taking advantage of any of the attractions. I simply wanted to spend the day with my grandsons, watching them laugh and making memories together. Instead, I was expected to pay approximately $40 simply to walk through the gate and be with my family. I understand that every business has the right to set its own admission policies, and I respect that. But I also have the right to decide when a policy simply doesnāt make sense. So, for four hours, I stood just inside the front entrance near the front door while my grandsons enjoyed the parkānot because I had to, but because I couldnāt justify paying full admission for services I never intended to use. My hope is that Wings & Waves will reconsider this policy. A reasonably priced spectator pass for grandparents, parents, caregivers, or anyone who simply wants to accompany their family without participating would make the park far more welcoming to families. I truly hope no other grandparent has to make the same choice I did.
