Labor Day Travel and Casino Visits
This travel included 4 Indian casinos, two hotels and some bottom fishing. The trip started with a visit to Yreka, California Friday, 8/30/2019. We visited the Rain Rock Casino and stayed in the Holiday Inn Express for the evening. We rose the next day, Saturday, 8/31/2019 and drove to Brookings, Oregon where we stayed in the Portside Suites for two nights. What a spacious room at the Portside Suites. The noise level there was practically zero accept for our ocasional television watching and talking between my wife and myself. The room was a clean two room suite that included a large sitting room with sofa couch, a mini kitchette with microwave and mini frigerator and a spacious bedroom with a king size bed. This absolutely was a creature comfort away from home. The Portside Suites was walking distance from the Port of Brookings Harbor and numerous eating establishments. The only draw back was the patio view that looked out at the BC Fisherie which blocked the view of the Harbor. This was overshadowed by the convenience of being harbor itself. We absolutely loved the time we spent in our room and would venture there again.
Home away from home
We have been staying at Portside Suites for years. We actually joke about it being our vacation home. It is always clean and comfortable and the staff is always very friendly. The suites are large, the beds are super comfy and the location is great. It is within walking distance of several good place to eat and just a short walk to the beach.
Large, nicely appointed suites, super clean and terrific value on the Oregon coast!
We travel frequently between San Francisco and Salishan, the central Oregon coast. So we are experts at finding comfortable accommodations to break up the trip. We stumbled across Portside because Best Western on the ocean front was full. Portside suites has much better appointed rooms, and larger, a two room suite and it is so clean. Kudos to their housekeeping staff, these people really know how to clean and the decor is comfortable without being kitschy, We stayed in a ground floor room with a huge jacuzzi tub. The bed was comfortable with good sheets and a top cover sheet over the blanket which I appreciate and no big comforter, which i detest and always must remove because they tend to be so hot. I also appreciated the blackout shades and because the hotel is on a working harbor, it is atmospheric and very, very quiet. I could hear some walking above me but considering it is a wood structure, that is normal. My only complaint was no extra blanket in the suite since I remove the bedspread and no feather pillows. They probably had these things but I forgot to ask before the front desk closed for the night at 8 PM. This is the third time we have stayed at Portside and it is the only place we would consider staying in Brookings! This is a really well run hotel and the winter rates were terrific! Thank you Portside Suites!!
This was a very nice suite! Very clean and nice. There were two places to eat within walking distance. A Mexican and a Seafood restaurant. We enjoyed our time there. We had a small view and it was a nice day so we could sit outside which was nice!
We kind of accidently stumbled upon Portside Suites and what a find it is! Very nicely appointed suites! And very economical compared to some of the BW's and other motels at the coast. Not too much view from the lower floor but you can see the harbor and I bet it's better from the 2nd floor. The rooms are so spacious with a separate sitting area, kitchen/bar area with microwave, fridge, glasses for wine and coffee. There is also a nice deck to sit outside and enjoy the ocean air and sunsets! We love it and will be back!
