Winter wonderland vacation
Is a nice resort. An ice storm took out some lines and we lost power. After 12 hours, and getting very, very cold, we had to go home. Lost 3 days, half the vacation. Called the next day, thinking of maybe going back up, but power was still out. Rooms were nice, decent sized, clean. Just bring your pillows. Theirs are very hard. You sink in then there is no give or movement. I used my coat and a throw blanket I brought with me.
Cozy ,quaint , resort
We enjoyed our stay . Easy check in with friendly staff . Clean and cozy . Fully equipped kitchen but great restaurants around town. Great location to relax and kick back . We are going back again a week from now
Great Christmas/ Winter Vacation Near Mt. Hood
We stayed at the Whispering Woods Resort from December 18th to December 25th 2023. We took the trip as a Christmas time/ Winter trip. We loved the nature on and around the property, it's location as it gave us relatively easy driving access to a lot of things we wanted to see and do around Portland and around the area in Oregon. We loved being only a few minutes (20-40 minutes from) Timberline Lodge. Whispering Woods was just below the snow line on our trip, so we got dustings of snow on the mountaintops within view of the resort but we didn't get snowed in and we didn't have to deal with snow or ice on the roads unless we wanted to drive up into the snow. An hour drive to Portland also wasn't bad for us. Loved watching Hallmark movies on cable in our room while we ate breakfast and watched for deer running by in the mornings while we were there. Overall, it was a really lovely and cozy place to stay for our vacation. We also were able to get our fireplace fixed/ working very easily with help from the front desk and maintenance when it wasn't working. It turned out to simply be that the remote/ buttons which controlled the fireplace on the wall next to it needed a couple small watch size battery changes to work, but the maintenance guy Saul replaced the whole remote/ button unit just in case because that one plugged directly into electrical power through the wall I think. Again, it was a great vacation and we really enjoyed our stay at Whispering Woods. Would definitely stay there again. We felt the price we got for our 7 night stay was also very reasonable. We got the price through doing a timeshare presentation. Not buying a timeshare as we don't feel that fits our lifestyle/ life plans/ travel plans at present, but we really enjoyed this resort. Never got to check out the spa or the jacuzzi but the advice from the front desk and informational pamphlets and magazines about exploring Oregon and the Portland area were useful. Internet was also nice and fast and convenient on the property.
Mt Hood Gem
I've traveled many times to Whispering Woods and have always enjoyed my time at this little gem. Although the condos are a bit smaller than newer resorts, it definitely makes up for that with its beautiful location near great hiking and skiing. All the amenities are there and the kitchen is very functional, beds comfortable and rooms pleasant and cozy.
So much has changed since 2008!
"Whispering Woods" is an ironic name. Walls are paper thin and other guests had kids that screamed all day and night. Other kids outside screamed all day. Leaf blowing occurred during daylight hours. No peace, no quiet, and we had to leave the resort to have and enjoyable time. Only the pool/hot tub were nice, but hours severely limited. Room was so small and I couldn't get a 2 bedroom despite booking almost a year in advance.
