A Great Stay in a Great Location
We have never stayed at Honey Bear before. We live two hours away so this was a very easy travel day for us. Upon arrival, we were quickly greeted and checked in by friendly staff. Because the park was not full, we were offered other spaces other than the one we reserved. The check in office doubles as their grocery supply store and small branded clothing store. The supplies are stocked with anything you might need (or forgot) for your camping trip…from smores kits, TP, food products etc. The branded clothing has hoodies, caps, mugs, stickers etc, basically everything to remember your trip. Across the drive from the check in office, the game room, work out room, showers and laundry are located. Our site was a space 85. It is located towards the back of the park in the “new section”. They have recently completed numerous graveled sites (most FHU), back ins and pull throughs. It is still work in progress so giving credit where credit is due. Our site was level right to left but pitched towards the nose so bring leveling blocks with you to be sure you can get level. The pedestal has 30 and 50 amp plugs. The pedestals are shorter which when I plugged in our surge protector, the surge protector laid in the dirt. After some finagling, I was able to make it work. The water pressure is high so a pressure regulator is recommended. There is a large fenced dog park in the front of the park. It also has a pond so if you have water loving dogs, this is perfect. There are several walking trails in the park to get out in nature. You can walk to the back of the park towards the tent camping area which brings you out to a large meadow with a pond. There is a resident herd of Elk that frequents the park. It is not unusual to wake up and have 20 Elk standing outside your trailer. There is also a trail to the beach which is easily accessed on Ophir Rd. You then cross 101 to access the beach. The beach is flat and easy to walk on. It is wide and flat for dogs. The Ophir beach access area also has public restrooms. Brookings is 30 minutes away and Gold Beach is within 10 minutes. Overall a great stay. It is very clean and quiet with the roar of the waves at night. Highly recommend and can’t wait to go back.

Very nice park
This is a nice park off the highway. The star of the show is the helpful staff. The bathrooms are clean and they have a nice area to hang out in.

Excellent RV Campground
Honey Bear by the Sea was a pleasant surprise. We had heard it was nice, but had no idea it was such a gem. The park overall is very well cared for. Every site, including the long term camper sites is clean and neat. With easy access from Highway 101 it was easy to find, and the location with access to the beach is amazing. The dog park was great although our pet didn't use it. And the kids playground was far enough away from most of the sites it would not have been bothersome and noisy for those of us who do not have children playing there, while there were a number of sites close by for parents who do. We only stayed one night, but we'll go back again for a longer stay soon.

Beware - No refunds whatsoever even with unforeseen events outside of your control!
I hate having to leave a 1-star review as I do actually like this campground; however, I must make others aware of this issue. I was traveling south from Coos Bay, OR. Evidently there was construction on US-101. Not being from the area (or able to predict the future or knowing anything about a service called TripCheck at the time), I was just following Google Maps, Apple Maps and RV Life like I always do. All of the platforms had me circling around for 6 hours leading me onto unpaved roads that would eventually dead end. Evidently all of the mapping systems think there are roads around the problem area, but they were wrong. I would have to unhook, turn everything around, etc. It was terrible! I alerted Honey Bear as soon as I became aware of the situation that I was stuck in Coos Bay for one extra day. I thought for sure that management at Honey Bear would be understanding of the situation and to my request for a refund of (1) night for the day I was not able to stay due to Oregon DOT. I was wrong. Evidently management believes that all customers are supposed to be aware of all road conditions ahead of time. If you do intend on staying here, be sure to check all road conditions in the area as YOU will be reasonable for them. This means hurricanes, earthquakes, typhoons, construction, etc. You MUST be able to predict the future and route yourself accordingly. If not, management WILL NOT waiver and you'll stick be stuck with the bill. What a shame.

Extremely disappointed this time!
We have stayed here before and loved it, which is why we came back to Gold Beach. We were shocked at the condition of the campsite as we agree with a previous comment saying that it has not been well maintained. We did not expect to see so much dead grass everywhere and it just looks so unkept. We left early so that we could still enjoy some of our vacation at another location… Very, very, very disappointed! We will not be back. There are plenty other campgrounds along the coast that we can stay at in the future.
