This is a larger hotel than I anticipated, with a long walk from parking to our room. We had chosen a riverfront view room, and we enjoyed that location. The room was reasonably large, everything was in working order, check-in was easy, departure was easy. We chose this hotel because it is immediately adjacent to the Eugene riverfront bicycle trail, and we stopped in Eugene primarily to cycle on this trail before having dinner with friends. The hotel is not directly connected to the trail, but it's a short 200 yard ride across the a little-used (maybe on Black Friday) part of the shopping center parking lot to a trail entrance. Unlike most places we stay, this hotel is traditional, with a restaurant, and no breakfast provided with the room. We brought cereal, yogurt, and fruit with us, so did not visit the restaurant. But the restaurant has a nice river view, and I hope the food is as good as the location. The room was a little cheaper than comparable places with breakfast, so the value is about the same. There are only a couple of places to stay in Eugene that are really close to the trail, and this was the only one we found that allowed us access without even crossing a single street. We would consider it again for a one-night stay, but for a longer stay would opt for a more modern unit with a full-sized fridge and kitchenette.

The Valley River Inn is clearly the premier hotel in Eugene. Recently renovated, it is clear that the hotel was remade in the perfect balance of history and modern flair. My guest room had a wonderful view of the river while being spacious and comfortable. The beds are incredible and wish I could have stayed in my room longer. The fitness room had everything I needed and the outdoor pool looked so inviting that I want to come back in the summer when it is open! Sweetwaters is the best hotel restaurant I've ever been in. The setting is vibrant and alive, not a boring overlooked space that describes most hotel restaurants. Over the week, I had both breakfast and dinner. Both were amazing! Anyone traveling to Eugene should give this hotel a chance, you won't be disappointed!

Great local stay
Valley River Inn is a great local stay with a beautiful location. The staff are professional and friendly. The rooms are comfortable and quiet with nice in room amenities. Valley River inn feels like a visit to a mountain ski lodge nestled on a river bank.

PERFECT PLACE TO STAY
Valley River Inn is one of the best places to stay in Oregon. Close by the many places and activities in Eugene, as well as the Oregon coast and the snowy mountains.

We measured the bed height to be 16". We need a min of 22" and "The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) does not specifically regulate bed height in hotels, which can lead to accessibility issues for wheelchair users. Ideally, accessible bed heights should be between 20 to 23 inches from the floor to the top of the mattress". Almost had an accident. We have stayed at the Valley River Inn many times prior to my husbands accident and have always enjoyed our stay. The remodel was needed and was quite nice. The H/C room was very spacious with a roll in shower and lots of room to move equipment around.
