Long Weekend in Joseph
We spent three nights at Trouthaven. This place is a magical step back in time. The cabins are clean, quiet, and have everything we needed for one of the most relaxing trips we have had. We met the couple in the cabin next to us, they have been coming there for over 40 years.

OK Cabin
I need to be honest here. The cabin we had was ok. Bathroom was very small - no sink - Just toilet and shower. You can just barely sit on the toilet and not hit your knees on the wall if you are short. It is a gravel path up to the cabin. Beds are ok, a bit soft. I had an issue with the heater in the cabin - it ran most of the night and woke me up every time it turned on - it had a very significant noise when turning on. I know people love this place. If you are used to camping, then this probably going to be ok for you. I did have a small spider in my bed. We checked everything and there was nothing else in the beds. Eric the owner is VERY helpful.

Loved it!
My husband and I and a friend couple stayed here for the weekend for a wedding. I really loved trout haven. The owners were super super nice. The grounds were beautiful and right on the lake. Being on the far side of the lake away from the touristy area was fantastic. What was even better was no cell service or TV or Internet. It was so nice to unplug and have a good time period the cabin we stayed in was the 2 bedroom cabin and it was great. The kitchen is small but adequate. The bathroom was nice and clean. The living room dining room area was good size. The Queen size bed room was small prie'ne the room with the 2 double beds was pretty good size. The grounds were well kept and there is a picnic area which is large and a game room. You can rent a small boat for I think it was $15 an hour. I just loved everything about it. I will definitely go here again.

What it is, not what it is not!
We loved it, probably because we needed it! Great to unplug and decompress, not email or do anything internet. Peaceful, quiet and serene. Feels like you've gone back in time when you're here. Close to town and thus easy to access free internet and sync communications, as needed. Bring your own...it is austere, although if you need anything they are on it. Next time, we'll bring our own coffee machine/beans/mugs and wish they provided kayaks or similar to fully leverage unique lakeside access.

Wonderful old fashioned lake cabins
This was the perfect place to decompress-old-style cabins (but in immaculate shape), perched on the edge of Wallowa Lake-are a step back in time. There's no Wifi, spotty cell service, and that's great for getting away from it all. Drive 10 minutes into Joseph, and you can get connected, but while at Trouthaven, your only job is to relax, read a book, or take a refreshing dip in the lake. Host Eric has lots of ideas and suggestions if you want to be busier. This was a great four-day stay, and there's a reason people book for the next year before they depart from Trouthaven.
