The person to have coffee with at the Benson Hotel
There is more than one icon at the Benson Hotel in downtown Portland, the famous old world hotel is elegant and classy. So is the staff… Bobby took care of us for breakfast every day this week and is the perfect example of that motto. He is kind and caring even when it is 7am and all you want is coffee and eggs. Hard to find people that have such dedication to being the best at every moment, and making you feel at home even in the hotel’s restaurant. Just seeing his cheerful attitude towards excellence makes us want to return to see him again. I rarely post on the web, but his kind soul deserved it. Cheers to you Bobby and the Benson Hotel!

Beautiful hotel and friendly people
My husband and I stayed here recently when he was in Portland for a conference. We are Hilton Gold members and enjoyed our breakfasts in the restaurant. The restaurant had very friendly servers - it was nice to start the day with friendly people. Location was great for Powell’s City of Books and other local restaurants. Shower had great temperature control. We would happily stay here again on a visit to Portland!

So Convenient and Wonderful Staff!
Checkin was easy and staff were very helpful and kind. We arrived ahead of our room being ready and staff immediately stored our luggage and provided us with directions on catching tram to convention center where I needed to complete my conference checkin. I was surprised at how large the homeless population is around the hotel. It’s really sad to see so many people displaced. Didn’t feel unsafe as no one approaches you or invades your space in any way. The location is close to so many different meal options. If you stay at the Benson I recommend trying, Grits N’ Gravy and Screen Door Restaurants as well as Villa Angel Taqueria food truck all within short walking distance of hotel. If I am ever in this region again I would stay at the Benson!!

Straightforward, friendly staff, and great food…
Clean and neat spaces; walkable area (restaurants, stores, parks,). Hotel food is great and their service even better (Bobby has been my go to person for tips around this area). Bobby works in the restaurant area and he is a knowledge base you cannot skip if you are visiting. Full of wonderful stories and great recommendations on places to visit or things to do.

The Historic Benson
Hotels rarely get a 5/5 from me, but I would have rated this one even higher if possible. From the ease of check-in/check-out to the exceptional restaurant staff, The Benson is beyond deserving of a high rating. The rooms are large compared to most hotels, spotless and comfortable. Be sure to check out the history of The Benson and Portland by working your way through the stairwell starting at the Penthouse floor and down. I’m already looking forward to returning.
