very accommodating staffs
Hotel was kind of shady but then when I walk in it feels warm. Shuttle driver was nice and fast too thank you Kent. It doesn't have an elevator but its just a flight of stairs which is easy and there was a snack shop open 24hrs which is good. What truly stood out about Derick was his ability to anticipate my needs. He went out of his way to accommodate special requests, ensuring that my stay was tailored to my preferences. Whether it was arranging transportation, providing extra towels, or assisting with DoorDash deliveries , Derick went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of my stay was taken care of.

Red Lyin' about the price. BEWARE!
BOOKER BEWARE! This place should be called the Red Lyin' Hotel. I booked my non-refundable (stupid me) room at Portland's Red Lion Hotel on its website. I was quoted a price of $91.50. After I confirmed my reservation, I was given a receipt showing my credit card was charged $56.13 in FEES. In the fee "breakdown" there was only one charge - $0.58 "Resort Fee." There were no other fees listed, nothing to account for the other $55+ I was charged. I attempted to reach customer service using the number provided in my confirmation receipt. That number was OUT OF SERVICE. Eventually, I was able to find a different, working number for customer service. I inquired about the $56.13 in fees, asking for a fee breakdown, an explanation of the fees. I was told the fees were disclosed on the website (not on any screen I had seen!) I was then told the fees were for cleaning. $56 for CLEANING?! Eventually, I was able to get a 20% "discount" on my reservation. I will NEVER book at this hotel or any of its corporate subsidiaries (Sonesta International Hotels) ever again! UPDATE: 5/26/23 To the Staff Member telling me I lied: I can email you my booking confirmation receipt where it CLEARLY STATES A RESORT FEE. But, perhaps you'd like to address the $56 FOR CLEANING. It's no wonder your business has had almost 200 complaints with the Better Business Bureau over the past 12 months. Calling someone who you screwed over a liar after you've hit them with over $56 in fees is just unreal. Yet another reason folks should avoid this hotel SCAM at all costs!

Wonderful experience..
Although the hotel was somewhat outdated, the customer service was on par with that of newer hotels. Derick assisted me with anything I needed, including opening the water bottle, which was difficult due to my shoulder sling, very accommodating staff. Every time I visit the front desk, he greets me as if it were my first visit. Plus points for the simple and quick check-in, even the shuttle in the morning really is a big help thank you very much!

Great customer service
Derick helped us out to get a better deal for the parking rather than going to the Long term parking saved us a lot of money and time would recommend to our family and friends to go here great customer service. The only downside was the restaurant was not open but then there’s list of restaurants in the area in the room so thanks for that.

Generally good, but confusing parking lot
We stayed here one night before leaving from the airport in the morning. It was generally a good place, but there were a few issues. The first was that it was hard to find. Generally when you are going to hotel you don't expect to drive your car through a gate and get a ticket for parking. We passed by the first entrance thinking it was wrong, and then with quite a bit of trepidation, went through the second. By this time we could see the hotel, but still we felt we were in the wrong place. This could be addressed very simply by a sign at the entrance saying "Red Lion hotel customers: enter here and take ticket to front desk". The beds were rather soft for my taste. There was some noise from aircraft, but considering how close it is to the runway, they did a decent job of soundproofing, and we were able to sleep fine. Noise from people talking in the parking lot was also an issue (we were on the first floor).
