At The Ranch Motel they invite you to celebrate the classic roadside motel and rest your head in an A-frame.

The Ranch Motel is an iconic vintage motor court with 25 A-frame units in the Oakland area. Built in 1962, the A-frames are a mix of 15 cabins with lofts and 10 smaller, standard cabins. They have an intriguing mix of woodsy cabin meets mid-century modern with ample parking right outside your door. The Ranch Motel is an independent, boutique motel with a fun vibe, friendly service, and clean and comfortable rooms for a great price.

Under new ownership, The Ranch is undergoing a long-awaited revival and a lot of updates are coming as the new owners lovingly restore this unique piece of Oregon history. The Ranch Motel is conveniently located right off interstate 5 in the beautiful and scenic Umpqua Valley region of Southern Oregon, surrounded by a unique and diverse landscape of wild rivers, wine and food trails, hiking and biking to numerous waterfalls, a rich history and so much more.

Cute as can be!

Apparently, the current owner is new. Very nice man, hope the motel works out for him. We booked a room with a loft to have more space. Our keycard did not work. He tried to get it to work, couldn't, and so swiftly shifted us to another room of the same type. He's replacing the lock system and doing updates as he goes, looks like. This place is so darned cute with all the A-frame units. They don't share walls, so that buffers hearing anything from your neighbor, which is nice. Good amount of space in the room, nice table to do our computing on. Fridge, micro, coffeemaker, good wifi. Little chair outside the room, would have loved to have sat out there, but alas, it was a bit chilly that night! We'd love to stay here again. Only disappointment was the Ranch Restaurant was not open/operating, only the bar--and we wanted dinner. Wound up reheating leftovers in the room, which worked out.

Great Place! rolling up I didn't expect much- but the inside exceeded my expectations! Great value staying here. Upon checking in the front desk person was super friendly and knowledgeable of the area. I arrived at night to a well lit parking lot which made it more comfortable to unload my things. There is very good internet, and flat screen tvs and my room had a upstairs and downstairs room. Not something I have really seen in hotels. Great Place to stay. I will be back!

Quirky, cool and neato!

After a tough multi-week stay at a national budget motel chain in Roseburg, we decided to take a chance on The Ranch. We were mostly attracted to the quirky A-frame rooms, plus we wanted to give our dollars to a semi-local business instead of a mostly uncaring chain. Our room was very clean, though a little stuffy at first. After having the windows open and the heater on the next day, things improved. Prior guests had defaced small parts of the room, but not enough to make it unpleasant. The beam going right behind the downstairs bed wasn't too comfortable on my head, but thankfully my wife's side was not affected. Unfortunately 18-wheelers were idling nearby, vibrating the wall almost all night, so not much rest that night. Our room had a loft. Our child really enjoyed having a separate area upstairs. The room had at least one neato retro painting as well as retro styled fixtures. Overall the room was older, but comfy and had a good sized couch, coffee table, fridge, TV and cable (although we didn't use the TV at all). WiFi was okay, although it frequently logged us out and it would drop throughout the day. Kind of tough for me as I work remotely and need to stay constantly connected to the internet. It was neat to look out the back window and enjoy the nice scenery. A train runs a ways up the hill, but not at all a problem at night. There are a couple of restaurants nearby, one at a busy truck stop. There are also nearby gas stations. We look forward to visiting again someday. Thank you, nice new owners, for giving the place a new lease on life and making our one-week stay as comfortable as possible!

Simple, fun, accessible

We loved our overnight stay during our roadtrip. The accommodation is neat and was a perfect simple size for us with easy access to the freeway and really kind helpful service and suggestions from the Ranch owners. The place is about to revamp so it will no doubt be even better with time.
