Home Away from Home
This review may be slightly biased given how much I love Portland, OR, however, I must admit my most recent stay surpass all expectations. We stayed four nights and we were lucky enough to have a room with a view. It was truly amazing looking over the river and Mt. Hood. The weather was spectacular which made the view even better. The hotel itself is great and the staff is attentive and courteous but what really made a difference was our experience at the M Club. Alex, the bartender and lounge concierge was top notch. The night he was on duty, we saw him taking care of the lounge demands all by himself. It was a busy space and he looked in control of it and took the time to be courteous to everyone. On a personal note, he was extremely kind to my mother who traveled to Oregon for the first time. He was kind, professional and genuine. This is my fourth time choosing Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront and it's a no-brainer when visiting such beautiful city. It was truly outstanding.

Fine Hotel on the River in Portland
We recently spent 3 days at the Marriott and were quite pleased. We had a bit of a mixup when we first checked in but it was taken care of quickly and to our satisfaction. The hotel is easy to access from I5 north and has their own parking garage. Our room had a river view (which I recommend) and a small balcony. We also had access to the M club, which was definitely worth the extra fee. The room was quiet and clean and room service was very good. The staff was thoroughly professional, efficient and nice. The only problems we had involved a couple of issues with the fixtures in the room and were quickly addressed. We also enjoyed a daily walk along the lovely park which stretches for miles along the river.

Great front desk staff, too bad about the bartender
Front desk really great, shame the bar tender wasn’t interested in serving me, one of the few people in the restaurant. Made 4 other drinks before helping the one person sitting at the bar, seemed more interested in talking with the servers. I wanted to eat but if it takes 10m to get a drink, how bad is the food service going to be?

Gorgeous views in perfectly comfortable hotel
Rooms were cozy with terrific views, both night and day. Comfy beds, coffee maker was well used by us. Bathroom was small as rooms go but hot water came quickly and there was plenty of counter space but no makeup mirror. Downside: not close to public transportation and multi block walk to major downtown areas. Uber needed for most tourist attractions

Good sleep
Stayed a night pre-cruise for a Columbia River cruise. Arrived very late at night, but the room was available. Light switches took a bit to get used to. Good sleep, soft bed. City view meant a window (not really a view of anything except it wasn't the river).
