Like staying with family-
I first wrote a review of this hotel five or six years ago. I have been traveling to Portland two or three times a year and even though I have Marriott and Hilton Points I always choose to stay here. Who wants the impersonal nature of a big box hotel when you find a place that treats you like family. The hotel is in one of the most beautiful parts of Portland, extremely walkable to downtown and the wonderful shopping and restaurants of NW 23 rd Street. It is also very convenient to take the MAX from the airport to within three or four blocks to the hotel if you really want to have a look at the city and don’t have a car or wish to Uber. The rooms are immaculate and stocked with lots of little goodies upon arrival- coffee, tea, oatmeal, juice and fresh fruit. You are virtually a few minutes walk from Washington Park and the Rose Gardens among numerous other worthwhile sights. In closing, I can not say enough about the friendliness of the staff- Sam. Mary Lou, Alex and Shirley are like family-this is what makes for a great visit in Portland. I would not dream of staying anywhere else...
We liked the one bedroom suite for two nights. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. There were breakfast snacks as well as cookies, oranges and coffee at the office any time. The parking was tight but free. Recommend parking by 5 and taking Lyft around town. Plenty of fun places within walking distance. Kells, Ringside, Mexican restaurant, etc. The only drawback was the very poor WiFi and poor signal reception in general at that location. Good deal for the price.
Have stayed here multiple times... returning again
Have had 4 stays here over the past 8 years.. both family and just couple time trips. We think it’s a great value and comfortable place to stay, with a friendly professional staff and ideal location. Because of frequent business travel, we always have free nights with hotel chains, but prefer Park Lane Suites when in Portland. Maybe because we stay in so many cookie cutter chain hotels where the rooms feel the same in all locations... we enjoy the ambiance at Park Lane. We’ve only stayed in the suites in the main building, so can’t speak to the rooms without kitchens. Because of the fabulous nearby restaurants, delicatessen and gourmet grocery store... we enjoy having the small kitchen for a couple of meals in or leftovers.
Spacious, but low quality
I booked the 1 bedroom deluxe suite. It was very spacious. However, it felt like staying in an old basement apartment. The curtains in the living room were sheer and provided no privacy. The images and description were misleading/incorrect as they said there would be a dinette included, and we didn't have one. Also, we were missing a bedside table, so I had to make a makeshift one out of the luggage holder. It is pet friendly and the shower was good (double shower head - one handheld is super helpful if you need to give your dog a bath.) Parking was pretty bad. Few spots, very narrow and on a hill.
Great Value and Comfortable stay, great for families, recommend.
Had just one night here in a 2 bedroom for 2 adults and 2 kids (9 +12). Kids shared a queen. Free car parking and allowed us to leave car there little longer after checkout which was great to store our bags. Friendly reception. Provided a small free breakfast and coffee as well. Walked to many places and got ubers into town. Room was large, bed was really comfortable and quiet room. Was a great price for the size. It isn't a 5 star hotel but was great for what we needed and paid and would return.
