I was so happy with our recent stay at Park lane Suites in Portland (goose hollow). The help was very friendly and helpful, the 2 bedroom suite was very nice and adequately stocked with oatmeal, orange juice and coffee. The price was right and I felt safe walking around the Goose Hollow area which had very nice local restaurants. Also, the lobby supplied fruit, tea, coffee, cookies and a breakfast bag in the morning with a bagel and yogurt. There is also a small side garden to relax in. They also held our bags for us the next day as we spent time in Portland due to a late flight. This is not a luxurious hotel, but it was clean and exceeded our expectations.
Liked the price, cleanliness, friendly staff, great location, older property but in good condition condition and safe location for a walk. Pet friendly. No traffic noise. Stayed two nights. Good location for visiting downtown Portland.
We will never stay here again. We've been coming here for over 10 years and this motel has steadily declined. Broken ice-maker, toilet seat that was about to fall off (I had to hand tighten), shower curtain too short so water spilled out on floor, housekeeping service every third day only. Had to replenish coffee etc from main lounge, no soda machine, no breakfast of any kind...not even a bagel. For $200 a night..???. Never again.
Chose because of parking and proximity to downtown. Erik went out of his way to help us upon check in and Garret and other staff were also friendly and helpful. We were initially in a one-room double in the Inn across the street and were switched to a suite in the main building the other nights as the Inn required climbing steep stairs. The Inn side was clean but outdated and rather depressing; the suite was quite comfortable and pleasant. The location also presented contrasts. Turn left to the main street and the neighborhood was a bit sketchy. Turn right snd there are stately mansions, some with sequois and landscaping. A few blocks away is a trendy area of ethnic eateries, a bit farther is a tent city.
This place has a primo location - just outside of downtown Portland but easy walking to downtown and the Pearl. Also (as we found out) the stadium. So that was one issue - soccer hooligans partying long into the night. The place is not soundproofed and has weird metal bedframes that make a huge bang whenever you accidentally (or purposefully, as the hooligans were) kick them. Okay, but all in all this has the vibe of an old motor inn that is trying to rebrand. The rooms are small and dated; the shower has a curtain that doesn't reach the floor. The beds are okay comfortwise. What can I say? It is a two star motel. Great location, comfort-wise leaves a lot to be desired. If that is what you want it is safe and simple and fine. The free parking helps, but as noted, if you get in late you may be SOL and have to deal with the street.
