The Monarch Hotel & Conference Center is an independently owned and operated full service hotel. Early on it was decided the growing Clackamas/Sunnyside area was in need of a full service hotel, to cater to the needs of the corporate traveler, convention and meeting markets. In 1985 the Monarch opened its doors. With the mission statement “To provide the hospitality that brings the guest back”. The Monarch has played host to the same groups many times over the years.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE- look elsewhere!
A DISASTROUS STAY!!! No where near “Hilton standards”. Reconsider staying at this facility! 1). The facility is undergoing a major face-lift. And clearly the management is more concerned with project schedule than guest comforts. Crews were at work at 6:30am on the three mornings we were there, including on a Saturday & Sun! Diesel engines, sawing, pounding on the exterior wall, just below our room. No apology for the noise and interrupted sleep. Clear message to us they didn’t give a s*** about our comfort. 2). This facilities housekeeping standards are simply sloppy and no where near Hilton standards. Paper cups in the room, no ice bucket, and worse, the staff didn’t make the bed for the 3 nights we stayed. This facility is very poorly managed, and that sloppy care of guests and prioritization of their construction work over guest comfort strongly suggests you should look elsewhere for a place to stay! Just an okay stay, low beds
This hotel is under renovation. It is not laid out like any standard HGI. It smells like it was built in 1985 because it was, older and musty. However, the rooms are nicely renovated. I had room 340. The amenities were fine, however there was a lot of light shining in from the entire doorway where it didn’t quite match up to the frame. (see picture). There was a really nice black out shade which ensured no light from the window at least! The bed sits pretty low to the floor, I’ve never been in a hotel room with a bed that low. Not sure I’d select this property again, at least wait until the renovations are completed. The property was not marked well and it was unclear where to turn into the parking lot. There are no diamond parking spaces that I noted.

Never staying at this place again.
Place was still under construction. There was no gymn. The supplies to buy are very limited. The restaurant does not open until 9 AM on weekends and 7AM during the week days. The walls and ceilings are thin, you can hear the people walking around up above and TV's. The Pillows are the worst. The bed sheets and comfertor were not good. The Heater in the room did not heat or cool the room even though you could set the temperature. It just blew the fan. They did not clean the room automatically. Left all day came back at 6PM and the room was not cleaned. I had to call and ask to have it cleaned and leave the room while it was being cleaned. The stairwells were taped off due to construction(your fire escape route). The only thing positive was the beds were firm.

Clackamas Hilton Garden Inn
Upon arrival, I was met by Fernando Soto with what I call probably the worst Customer Service I have ever had at a Hilton property as a Diamond Member or for any case any member should be greeted with warmth and Customer Service for your loyalty or for you patronizing the facility. After taking my information, writing it down, went to an adjacent room asking me for my credit card information as if there isn’t enough stealing theft or cyber crimes going on. I didn’t oblige that I was given a room and when taking my family to the room, it was already a disaster The room was used towels everywhere I had to go back down to not even an apology and still did not get an acknowledgment of a Member to let them him get things straight! The other desk guy seen the frustration and stepped in and finish out, finding me a room I asked Fernando a few questions if acting in treating customers the way he was normal for him. The Hilton Garden Inn normal like this ? Luckily, I have everything on tape. It was recording the whole time. As a loyal customer, there are things that are expected at Hilton ! When we had questions how things work for breakfast and checkout and was told after I would get a call back after an hour I just went down to check SMH The Hilton in Clackamas is under construction. Please stay away from this place if you are looking to get rest and any of your member rights that deserve and earn over time ! @hilton @wiiliam So @hiltongardeninn

Basic Hotel - located centrally in clackamas, OR
I was here for a conference in early September for a few days when the hotel was still under the Monarch Hotel and Conference name and under renovations before it became a Hilton Garden Inn in mid-September (after I had left). Location: The hotel is located right off I-205, so it's easy to get to, assuming you have a car. Downtown Portland is about a 20 minute drive away. There is no airport shuttle so be prepared for a pricey uber ride if you need to get to the hotel. (PDX airport is about 13 miles away.). You basically need a car to get around this area; there is a mall (Clackamas Town Centre) a 5 minute drive away and other chain restaurants/fast food in the area that are within walking distance: Red Robins, Old Spaghetti Factory, Chik-fil-a, Starbucks, Pizza Hut, Chipolte etc. There's also a CVS and Target close by. Not the most scenic, but convenient. Safety: I felt safe in the area. Uncovered parking lot had bright lights at night. Keycard required to swipe into the building and rooms which were outside of the main building - you enter the lobby, get the key and then have to go outside and around to the side of the building to get to the rooms. (Parking was $10 per day, which seemed a bit excessive considering this isn't even downtown.). However, I would say that the front desk area looked like it backed into part of the restaurant area... this could be because this was under renovations, but that meant no one was at the "front desk" 24 hours a day like you would find at a higher end hotel. There were gaps where no one was at the desk (more like a speaker stand) or it was one person trying to check several people in/out. Perhaps the staff were shortstaffed. Amenities: the hotel is on the older side but was undergoing renovations as mentioned earlier. There was an outdoor swimming pool, and a large conference room in the lower level where our meetings were held. There was an onsite restaurant as well (expensive and average). The room we had was on the second floor of a 3 storey building, however, the elevator was extremely slow. (The staircase had a warning because construction workers were going in and out so we didn't take the stairs.). 2 queen beds, clean updated bathroom (bright lights and large shower stall - shampoo, conditioner provided in the refillable bottles in the shower wall, but no shower cap was provided). Standard hairdryer, coffee machine and (empty) mini-fridge provided. The microwave however looked like it had been picked up at an auction - all the buttons were labeled in French. The telephone on the desk wasn't hooked up properly so there was no dial tone. Calls to the front desk on our cellphones were unanswered. That was disappointing and unexpected given we could not easily run down to the lobby for quick questions. It was somewhat noisy during the day, unavoidable given the renovations. The cleaning agents used though were on a whole other level. As soon as we walked into the building where the rooms were, we were overwhelmed with a very strong cleaning agent/detergent. The hotel itself is fine and I do look forward to seeing the upgrades once the whole hotel is completed. The upgraded parts (e.g. our room) were quite modern so hopefully that will reflect through the rest of the hotel.
