Cool place to stay near the airport, but the room descriptions should be updated!
The place was across the street from the airport which worked out for us. I paid for a "mountain view" suite but the room looked directly out to a building across the parking lot. According to the staff they haven't updated their room descriptions. That being said I was charged an upgrade fee to move to a higher floor but was put in a corner unit that had half of the view blocked by the side of the hotel itself. All and all if I wasn't particular about the view it would have been fine. That being said, I paid for the view and then paid for the upgrade which I still wasn't pleased with.

Nice
Thoroughly enjoyed. Spacious suite. Clean, updated, quiet. Great complementary hot breakfast, two drink complimentary happy hour. Very pleasant staff. Staying again in a week for the flight home. Highly recommend as an airport hotel. As nice as any you will find.

Parking fee crazy
Nice area nice hotel but lots of fees and the biggest problem is the parking fee. I checked in with my wife and am asked if I have a car? I tell them yes and I am informed that I will now be charged $16.00 per day to park in the lot. The problem is it is not a secure lot and anyone can come in and out anytime they want and are not charged. But because I am honest I am charged. Every morning I see people in the same parking lot sleeping and they are never charged. Some vehicles with expired plates. BS I have visited this area and stayed at this hotel every time but won’t be back again. All of the other hotels in the area charge $6-8.00 for parking and some charge nothing I will be back to Portland but not this hotel ever again.

To many fees involved
They add 100.00 for additional fees and taxes and then charge you an additional $16.00 for you to park your own vehicle. The breakfast is the best usually but the it was just ok this time. I would suggest another hotel near the airport in lieu of Embassy. There is a Hyatt which is excellent and their additional taxes are minimal.

Shootings/ safety/ concerns
I didn’t plan to write a review However, I am now feeling like I too need to speak up about what happened in March and sadly, I can say, I was also there at the other shooting in November. It saddens me to think that in my travels I have witnessed two Shootings at all. But, to witness two, and at the same location in such a short period of time has been beyond traumatic! This has forever changed my life, my sense of security and for the past 6 weeks, my ability to function. I was hoping the first shooting was just a fluke… which happened directly above our room. The next morning, we went down to help The family and loved ones from the young man who passed away. We got them coffee, hugs, and even prayed with some. We stayed the next night. We had stayed at this location a lot over the past 3+years. It was a perf ct location for us to come to when visiting and working our little non profit. People who work there day to day are amazing and we were feeling like we needed to stay the next night because if they were at work after all that, we wanted to be there to show we supported them. I had stayed alone before there but this last time, I had felt uncomfortable and seemed to be hyper vigilant in my surroundings. Without going into too much detail, I did realized the young man who checked in right before me was the one of those who died that early am… I have pictures on my phone from BOTH shootings that I kept for some stupid reason to show my adult kids what I had experienced. They were beyond traumatized too knowing their mom and my husband worrying about me, and not being able To get to me. Having been interviewed a few times by different law enforcement officers, and giving a lot of details, was hard to say the least. I had called 911 both times, and I had called downstairs to check on the staff… when there was no answer and no communication from the front desk or anyone else for that matter, I honestly didn’t know if they were dead or not. Vein brushed aside when checking out, walking past blood all over the walkway in the building where it looked like someone had drug themselves, all kinds of life saving items blood, evidence markers, crime scene tape… and yet, no care or concern from management… as to relocate, help console… I felt as if I was wrong for feeling so traumatized. When I woke up to the sound of gunfire, I thought it was a bad dream and actually opened the door to see if it was real. When I did, I saw people in the elevator trying to lift a body, and a young man yelling and running with a gun. Girls screaming and then a little more gunfire. I have since canceled trips can’t be alone, jump at sounds, cry for no reason and have never been contacted by the hotel to offer any sort of checkin in, apology, offer for trauma therapy… This is just downright wrong. While I know that this happens across the country.. you would think that they would have had some type of active shooter training in place after the first one. You would think that there would have been a message, letter, email … anything, acknowledging our trauma, and letting us KNOW if there is plans in the making to better train their staff. I did get a private message from a staff member which is a good friend telling me that they have put armed guards at the doors outside. Well, that is great, now I am sure that the people who came with guns( assault weapons) don’t walk in with them out in the open… and even if… it is a little too late for that. I have been a Hilton’s honors member and a Diamond member for years. I travel( or used to) a lot…. This has made me rethink my loyalty to this hotel anymore. If they are not loyal to me, why am I to them? With my husband having cancer, I don’t have the financial Ability to go and pay for trauma therapy… you would think that they would have offered it to those who were at one or like us, BOTH of the shootings. Lastly, when I finally did get ahold of someone after several days and messages being left for them…. I didn’t think I should have had to pay for that noght , I told them what the last police officer stated to me he stated” If I was your husband or son, I would ask you to not stay here anymore as this is a prime situation for this to happen… , you can stay and se who goes to what floor, and watch them go to and from their rooms… and shoot and escape easy.” Wow. The response when I shared with staff..” They shouldn’t say that”. Well, at least that officer was concerned enough to encourage me to stay somewhere else.
