Best employees and best Hilton in Oregon
This hotel has been our go to place for 4 years now. This year i have stayed 148 nights in Hilton properties and the Loyd Center Doubletree is the one place I recommend to everyone. Kate at the front desk has kept us and my other company's travelers happy and she is always calm cool and willing to help us with a smile and a great attitude. About 5 months ago they hired Mary who has been the one at night shift to accommodate us and she is professional and willing to help us and she is a big asset to a very busy environment . I tell everyone that the building isn't brand new and its not the flashy place but the people who work here make the difference. I have been fortunate enough to travel the world many years ago and the Loyd Center Doubletree brings back the old school Hilton environment with every employee happy and ready to go above and beyond to make your stay here Great. I moved a co worker here from another Hilton property and he agreed the employees and the atmosphere is the best here.

Clean and comfortable
This is a pretty standard Doubletree in a downtown area. Clean and comfortable. The neighborhood is not walkable, but I knew that in advance and rented a car to explore the rest of the city. It's pretty much 10 minutes away from anything you might want to do in Portland.

Spacious Room - Attentive Staff - Excellent Breakfast
We appreciated the spacious room (king, balcony). This room is certainly big enough to have a frig and microwave and I encourage Hilton to update its rooms with these standard conveniences. However, we requested a small refrigerator and it was delivered the same evening and the staff at the front desk were very helpful. The swimming pool was quite lovely - very appreciated during the recent heatwave. The breakfast buffer was excellent with many choices (loved the oatmeal, cheese omelette. croissants, and fresh fruit) and appreciated the attentive service. The housekeeping was just OK - some decent cleaning but no replacement for the coffee maker or clean cups provided. We were left with recycling bins but no garbage. I do understand that the hotel was understaffed.

Decent hotel in dicey location (nowadays)
I stayed here over 10 years ago and was looking forward to my return visit last week. My room was comfortable, but basic, i.e. no refrigerator, no microwave and a drip coffee maker from the olden days. Housekeeping was hit or miss, however. On the second day, the housekeeping performed was the opposite of thorough. The following day, the housekeeper never showed up at all! The front desk explained that housekeeping was overly "taxed" due to many guests checking in or out. Well the hotel should know in advance how many guests are arriving and departing each day and plan accordingly, rather than arbitrarily and without notice abandoning certain guests. AI to the rescue? After complaining, I did receive decent housekeeping on the third day, except the coffee packets were not replenished. Oh well, no one's perfect, at least not at this hotel. As for the location, it's still convenient, with MAX light rail right on the corner, but the neighborhood sure has taken a turn for the worse. The once bustling Lloyd Center is now the Void Center, with virtually no shops left and more vagrants than customers. And the lovely park opposite the hotel is strictly off-limits if you value your safety. It's not the hotel's fault, but as one of the bigger hotels and convention centers, perhaps they could work with the city to clean things up. Worth a try?

Not so much
Although the inside of this hotel is nice, the staff is great and for $25 a day they have a breakfast that is very good the hotel is in a really crummy ( homeless/ druggie) area. Not really safe in evening. There are no resterants close by that are safe to walk to. If you want parking that is at your own risk, it's $25 a day. Pool just OK. If you get a room by the train line you hear the clickety clack all night and day every 15 min. Some times two of the elevators work. I personally after staying here for two baseball tournaments could not recommend this hotel. It was 30 min. Away from most parks. Portland in general has become a place I really don't care to go back to.
