More info would have been helpful
We rented a condo for the weekend. The owner gave info about arrival, departure and care of the property. It would have been helpful to know that the ‘2 car garage’ is single file-not side by side; the stairs between floors are 15 steps up a 45 degree angle; and the hours that the pool and office are ‘open’. Housekeeping left something to be desired: moldy coffee grounds in the coffee pot basket; pipe ‘scum’ came out when the tub jets were activated; and used aluminum foil left in the BBQ. However- those were all easily corrected and all other aspects of the property were good.
Family reunion site
Approx. 100 of us rented multiple units for a family reunion. We stayed in units 5 and 6. Both condos were clean and spacious. Well stocked, but do know you likely need to bring items such as ziplock bags, Saran Wrap, etc. units came with dishwashing and laundry detergent. The property is lovely. Elevator access available. Nice walk to Government Camp. Would recommend to others.
Wanted to get away for a few days or rest and relaxation with my sister and rented a "Chalet" at the Collins lake resort government camp. I will say the word Chaley should be used loosely when thinking of this place. The photos posted are far from what you will receive when you arrive there. The people who check you in are rude. It was a woman who was looking at my girlfriend with death eyes. (My girlfriend is very pretty) The accommodation was musty and had the scent of mold. The beds had springs you could feel in your back, the bedding was the cheapest of the cheap. Bathroom towels were tiny like face cloths. The price was cheap and it certainly makes sense why. Thank fully we only paid for 3 days which was 2.9 days to much. I don't recommend this place if you like things that are well run and nicely kept. It is mystery how this place has as many good ratings as it has.
We stayed at the Grand Lodge #26 over the weekend and enjoyed it a lot. The place is huge and very nice. It was stocked with all the dishes and cooking stuff we needed. Had a ton of games to play and puzzles. The lake view was amazing and we tried the heated pool that wasn't as warm as we expected. But still fun! The hot tub was pretty much occupied by guys with beers so we didn't go in. We figured all that beer had to go somewhere and they were pretty much parked in the hot tub for hours lol. The grill caught on fire the first night due to all the grease accumulated in the grease pan. It was pretty scary but we put it out eventually by putting snow on it. The lightning in the place was fancy but sort of dim. Could use more light. There is a nice trail/cross country ski/snowshoe trail right across the road from the entrance - through some gorgeous snowy woods. The trail around the Collins Lake is not in use in the winter, apparently. So don't count on it. Overall- the place is great and highly recommended.
Review for Collins Lake
Easy check, friendly helpful staff. Great pool, hot tub, perfect location...what else do you want? Parking garage for 2 vehicles, not even the Grand Lodge can claim that. Get a drink at Charlie’s, pizza at Ratskeller
