Perfect, mountain retreat
Lovely, mountain themed room. Great bar apps too. Bartender, Shaun, was a wealth of knowledge about the area. We experienced a gorgeous, brief, warm summer shower with hail and a double rainbow. They have a nice continental breakfast. Staff at check-in and out were kind and friendly. The bed was a bit squishy so not the most comfy. Had the been better rating would easily be a 5 for us

Gorgeous setting, charming rooms, great breakfast
We needed a place to stay near Ashland for one night. We couldn’t make it to the Ashland Motel by their 10pm check-in time. Other choices in the $90-130 range sounded and/or looked abysmal. Then Callahan’s popped up. I’ve driven past it about 100 times in my journeys between the San Francisco Bay Area and Ashland, but never stayed. I reserved a no-view, basic two-queen room & called ahead to make sure we could check in past 11pm. The front desk was very pleasant and accommodating. Check-in was quick and easy. We moved our suitcases to room 19 and were exclaiming how inviting and adorable it is (no worn-out easy chairs here! Just comfy brown ones), when the front desk called & asked if the toilet was flushing ok. We checked… and it was not. We got upgraded to a suite upstairs! (There is an elevator). K bed, spa tub, view, and even a deck (shared with one other room, I think?). The entry has a mini kitchen with Keurig, micro, not-small fridge (the other room had them too), plus a couch, two more easy chairs, and an additional tv! My son tried out the spa tub while I hung out in the suite to give him privacy. Breakfast exceeded our expectations. Warm eggs & fried potatoes, make-it yourself waffles, hot coffee with 3 kinds of flavored creamers, 2 kinds of cereal & milk, plain yogurt, a tasty looking strawberry topping, muffins, bread and toaster, and banana bread + a nice frittata in the refrigerator. Oh! And two kinds of juice. Plus a very nice dog to pet (one of the guest’s). The coffee was good enough to drink black. 👍🏻 Check out is 11am, but extending for 1 hour is free! Extending my thanks to Mark C for clear & even-handed responses to the previous negative reviews. Give ‘em a chance! We’re sure happy we did.

HORRIBLE
Horrible food, drinks and service! No hot water, for jetted tub ! no firewood unless you bought, for your already paid suite with fireplace. Breakfast for 3 days had no eggs , no syrup, juice or milk. Filthy big shedding doge in dinning room. Loud barking dogs 24/7 pooped on our shared suite patio . We’re locals and been going for many years. It’s so so sad how it’s being ran…. Or not ran.

Dated. Needs restoration and deep cleaning. Food was meh
Dated, needs restoration and good old fashioned deep cleaning. Nice staff but food was not great. Our room had a tiny whirlpool tub which was enjoyable but why don't they at least make the tv swivel so you can watch easily while soaking? The carpet was truly disgusting and there were strangely two upholstered chairs at the foot of each bed. Like your grandparents would have had. In fact they probably are your grandparents chairs. They are old and look dirty. Oh well we survived. The restaurant had a nice ambience with an older gentleman singing some jazzy tunes. My burger was over cooked and salty. They were out of fries so offered side salad instead. I didn't receive the salad. We asked for extra extra sauce on the Alfredo as my husband needs moist foods after radiation. The plate was completely dry. I don't know why extra sauce seems impossible to ever receive at any restaurant. Oh well. We survived. But we will likely not return to callahans. Nor recommend it. I think really, they can do better.

Don’t eat or stay here!
We went to Thanksgiving buffett in the restaurant and it was horrible! We went last year and the buffet was excellent with prime rib, ham, turkey and many different sides like seafood fettuccine, mac & cheese, plus all the traditional sides including mashed potatoes, gravy every kind of side dishes that you can possibly imagine for Thanksgiving dinner and it was so well put together and what a pleasant surprise it was excellent. The food was warm, delicious and super filling. This year it was 1/2 the food and NO PRIME RIB hardly any side dishes for options with an increase in price $60 per plate! The Lodge was freezing inside no fireplaces lit like last year or heat on plus the warming trays that held the food were not warm at all! Food was cold! $124 tab for 2 people no drinks! We could have eaten at any diner with hot heaping delicious plates of food for 1/2 the price! Horrible L
