Torn between 3 or 4 stars

Good: Clean. Walking distance to everything. Excellent parking. Bad: Small rooms, soft beds, dark rooms. Low water pressure. The blanket thing is uncomfortable. The breakfast here is one of the worst we’ve had in hotels. But cleanliness is almost everything. Almost. And good location.

Great location near the Oregon Shakespeare Festival

The Bard's Inn is a great location for access to the OSF site to experience the wonderful plays. Also easy walking distance to restaurants and shopping. This is our third stay at Bard's Inn and have always had a great experience.

Hospitality = Zero

I am very surprised that this property is in Best Western's category of BW Signature Collection. While the property itself is adequate, the staff is very poor, and the Signature Collection criterion of Hospitality is utterly lacking. Inexperienced, unhelpful, and quite frankly treated us as though they were doing us a favor by letting us stay there. This was not our first stay, and we've noticed this before. But our most recent visit (it will also be our last) was the worst. We stay at a lot of Best Western properties on our road trips and property quality and room quality can be spotty. But hospitality is something any location should be able to do if it really wants to. Bard's Inn apparently doesn't want to.

Great location, Solid rooms and breakfast

Great locaton, near everything, but a little bit quiter. Rooms were good, but a bit dark and cramped, every though we had a balcony (tiny) and two queens made it tight. Free breakfast had lots of options and was very good value Price was not too bad, which made it a good value, you can save $100 outside of town about a mile or so, but why would you.

Can't beat the location

If you are planning a visit to Ashland (especially for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival), it is hard to beat this location without spending a fortune at a boutique hotel. It is only a minute or two walk to the main strip and only a few minutes more to get to the theatres. (And Ashland has to be the most pedestrian-friendly town I have ever visited.) There are three separate buildings on opposite sides of the intersection, and it is worth double checking with management about which one you get--one building is motel-style with doors facing a parking lot; the other two have secure interior hallways and seem a lot more quiet. Pros: --Location, location, location. --Surprisingly quiet inside rooms given its proximity to the main road through town --Free level-2 EV charging --Free breakfast (it is pretty basic, but complete) --Easy access in lobby to guest computers and printer --Free wifi seemed more than adequate Cons: --I really, really wish this hotel (and all hotels) would stop using so much single-use plastic. Shampoo, conditioner, and lotion came in tiny amounts packaged in a lot of plastic. The breakfast set up also included a lot of items packaged individually in a lot of plastic. Free water was given upon checkin to BW Reward members, but again, in single-use plastic bottles. --Room decor is dark and dated (at least in the rooms we had). For example, the vanity area and bathroom had really dark wall paper that was only partially hiding quite a few stains. Even with these minor criticisms, I have stayed here two years in a row to attend shows, and I will likely return next year.
