Bed bugs
Started out as a nice stay. But ended with me getting bed bugs bites. I attempted to make contact with them via email and ask for a refund. No response so now I am leaving a review. I also contacted the OR department of health as well, no response. I did also offer some pics of the bites for their review.

Fraud Alert!
I paid, through an online travel agency, for a room at ABVI in La Grande OR for the evening of October 1, 2024. When we attempted to check in, the front desk clerk refused to honor the reservation. We were not allowed to check in, and no room was provided. My husband and I instead stayed at Best Western, located across the street. When the online travel agency followed up with ABVI regarding the disputed charge, someone representing the hotel chain falsely claimed we had checked in and stayed in “room 123”. I want to reiterate, we DID NOT receive a room, nor did we fill out or sign a registration form. Hotels typically keep registration forms for 90 days for legal compliance. ABVI should have a copy of our registration form AND be willing to provide it in response to our dispute about the room charge. I believe ABVI has an obligation to return the funds received.

Dated property
The place is clean, customer service is weak, door key system took multiple attempts to unlock and had to have cards rekeyed to make work. It is close enough to walk to several fast food places nearby. Breakfast is limited and fruit was poor. Wouldn’t allow earning points unless reservation was made through internet

I have made lots of reservations for our employees and have always received outstanding customer service from Rain Maher. I know she wears many hats for the hotel but is always willing to help me with so many requests. I appreciate all she does for me and our employees. Great job!! They DO customer service without making a big deal of it
This is the second America's Best Value Inns I have been impressed with (other one is in Rehoboth DE). So not sure if it's the chain or local management but for us this modest newer hotel was quite nice so not sure about the dismal reviews. Indoor pool was large and swimmable, a plus for me although it wasn't heated too much and required real swimming! Jacuzzi to warm up in afterwards. The fitness room was small but I got a nice workout on stationary bike, full rack of nice weights and the right toys (bench, firm Swiss ball & very firm bosu, set of cables for pull downs). Room was spacious, good bed, desk &chair, good Wifi. We had a morning Zoom meeting and asked for another office chair which clerk immediately got for us. Breakfast included egg&sausage sandwiches and breakfast burros. Some large people somehwat "cleaned out" the good stuff, my husband reported before I got there, but the staff replenished everything pretty quickly and it was a reasonable breakfast. Not much fruit I guess. I told the clerk I had read pronouncements about customer services at other places we stayed but that they just did it. She said that made her day and she was going to share this with the manager. They had a sign about being short staffed and we noticed maids were still cleaning rooms at our arrival but room seemed in good shape. Only thing that did not work was an old radio clock we did not use. Bathtub with very hot water (one of my requrirements) and the usual in room coffee, microwave, fridge rounded out a nice stay.
