Stayed three nights for a family wedding. Room 203 with king bed and private bathroom/shower spacious and clean. Dinner in lobby restaurant very good. Roof top bar great space. All bartenders professional, efficient, personable. Front desk staff responsive if not enthusiastic. So what is wrong??? The location could not be more inconvenient. On the corner of two busy streets with traffic noise 24/7. There is no breakfast service in the hotel. There is a coffee shop next door and another across the street but with limited choices. The closest sit-down breakfast or lunch is a half mile away. There is no parking at or adjacent to the hotel. The closest --- two blocks--- is $40/night. The closest affordable is a half mile away. Appropriate lodging if you are on a budget, bring your own food, and don't need a car.
Booked via HotelTonight app for a one night stay in Portland. Every expectation was met with acute perfection! Friendly hostesses at front desk, the bar AND RESTAURANT were still open and taking orders til 11:30pm! We arrived late from PDX airport, so to be able to unwind in the GORGEOUS floor restaurant, “Pacific Standard”, was the most ideal situation imaginable. Dylan, the hip young bartender, was exceptionally kind and friendly to us and made us the best Old Fashioned I’d had in awhile (maybe even the best I’ve ever had!) The bedroom was perfect for a one night stop, cozy, quaint, clean, really just right. We were able to book an hour at the sauna for the morning at midnight! And the sauna, too, was clean, and perfect in every way. All in all, you can’t really go wrong at KEX. If you appreciate a good aesthetic, friendly service, and spot-on amenities, this is the Portland stay for you. Cheers!
Such a lovely hotel! All of the details (from decor to comfort) were well thought-out. I stayed in the hostel-style room and was really pleased with the quality for the price. Staff were super friendly as well - special shout-out to Aradia :)
We had to find spontaneous lodging due to a snow storm. Rachel and Aradia, on shift that night and morning, were super helpful and friendly. The whole staff took care of not only the guests but each other very well in the emergency circumstances. That to me is a sign of a place that is worth coming back to and trusting with my needs of safety and comfort being met. Thank you KEX! Bonus! They have a sauna that you book, free of cost to guests! Wow! What a beautiful place!
I’ve seen @pacificstandard at KEX hotel and have wanted to check it out for some time now. Finally, I made it this holiday season! It was such a romantic time. Of course the food and drinks were perfect and their vibe is so cool! - a mix of modern and vintage mood, a big screen which was playing holiday movies, many mood lights and a photo booth. You can make some great memories there even though you live in PDX. its still a nice getaway. Also, if you stay definitely try the sauna, which no one seems to know about. A real hidden gem of the KEX hotel. (Manager Elli is amazing and super friendly! She was so helpful and another reason to stay there.)
