It really pains me to write this because Hotel deLuxe has been meaningful to me for over 20 years. I used to live in the apartments across the street, and this hotel has been a place I’ve chosen for celebrations and special occasions for years. I have had many wonderful experiences here. I also own a business in Portland, so I understand how difficult the past several years have been for downtown hospitality. It is clear that budgets and staffing are tighter than they used to be. Things seemed more dilapidated and dirty. Still, what happened during my stay last month was one of the most upsetting hotel experiences I have ever had. I was staying at the hotel for a work shoot and needed to unload my car. I asked the front desk for help locating a luggage cart. I was told to go downstairs and find one myself, but there was no clear direction, no ramp, and no obvious place for guests to access one. After I returned and asked again, the front desk employee reluctantly came downstairs with me and showed me that the cart was stored in what appeared to be an employee-only basement area. To get the cart outside, I had to maneuver it through a very tight elevator and onto the sidewalk. It was an awkward and confusing process, especially for a guest who had never been shown how to access it. Once the cart was outside, I asked the employee to hold it while I moved my car around the corner. I returned, brought the cart to my room, and unloaded my belongings. The next morning, I realized that an important bag was missing. I searched everywhere and could not find it. I asked management to review the security footage. Eventually, I received a call from a third party stating that the footage showed someone taking my bag while the cart was in the hotel employee area and under the hotel’s control. Since then, I have tried to contact both the manager and assistant manager. I have received no meaningful response or help resolving this. The bag contained important items, and the lack of communication or accountability has been incredibly disappointing. I understand that mistakes and difficult situations happen. What I cannot understand is why a hotel I have supported for decades would leave a guest without answers after their belongings were taken while in the hotel’s care.

Delightful stay at Hotel deLuxe
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hotel deLuxe in NW Portland over the 4th of July weekend. The hotel is within easy walking distance to many city restaurants and attractions. The meals we enjoyed at Gracies, their in house dining room, were delicious and nutritious. The atmosphere is relaxed and filled with reminders of the golden age of Hollywood. Aidan, their concierge at the front desk, is quite cordial, helpful and very knowledgeable about the horel's fascinating and important history.

July 4th Spectacular experience
The room was beautiful with 180 view of the city; North to South. Aidan was our check-in conceirge, and welcomed our dog with happiness. Josh and Greg in The Driftwood were the cherry on top!

Good vibe but subpar service.
Went for one night based off of reviews. Bar was nice and great vibe, but service was poor. It was very slow and the staff seemed more interested in talking amongst themselves instead of checking on guests. The room was nice but needed to be cleaned. I left my Apple Watch in the room by mistake and didn’t notice until I left. The Find my IPhone app showed it still in the room. I called and emailed and asked multiple times if someone could go check the room as I had already traveled home. Not one person, not the front desk, not room service and not the manager cared enough to even check for me. It’s still there in the room btw.
