Good with a Couple of Issues
Nicely restored older hotel with clean and comfortable rooms. Location is pretty convenient to be able to walk to Powell's Book and the Pearl District. There were some issues. No coffee in the room and the front desk at check-in doesn't tell you there's some in the lobby in the morning... so you don't discover it until you're ready to walk out the door. Really, the front desk didn't communicate much of anything at any point, even when asked a question. The website touts their historic bar and includes a menu of specialty Manhattans, but it seems that hasn't been offered in quite a while, and the bartender wasn't sure he could make one. Maybe an update to the website is in order. Finally, it took the hot water quite a while to reach the shower in my room, but it got there. Also, you must tell them if you want housekeeping, but can't tell them at check-in, you must tell them in the morning.

Our go to Portland hotel
The Hotel Deluxe has become our go to hotel in Portland. We’ve stayed there four times since December while visiting our kids who attend college in the area. We love the old world charm and the Hollywood theme. We take advantage of the Driftwood Inn each visit, and it’s not to be missed. Great ambience, food and drinks. We typically stay in a suite, which are generous in size, with comfortable beds and a sitting area. The AAA deal offers a great rate and cuts 50% off of parking. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Looking forward to upcoming stay next week!

Bugs crawling in room
If I could rate this below 0 I would. Staying at this hotel was a huge mistake. The room is filthy, there were bugs crawling in the room, windows are very dirty and service is terrible. Me and my girlfriend checked in at 9pm and we had to check out 4 hours later because the room was disgusting we couldn’t sleep in it

A true gem in Portland
My recent stay here couldn’t have been any better. Everything was great from the moment I was warmly greeted by Aidan when I checked in. My room was very comfortable. The hotel has one of the most classic bars in the city, The Driftwood Room. If you have brunch be sure to order the Thiele’s German Pancake. All the staff were great and the location was ideal to all the places I walked. It was an excellent value as well. I look forward to staying here again on my next visit.

“Aiden“ and “Erin”. for exemplary hospitality and service.
I have been staying at the Mallory/Hotel DeLuxe since July, 1985. Throughout those 46 years, my career as a consulting geologist has taken me across the United States. My wife of 38 years and my (now) two adult sons have been frequent guests at the DeLuxe since (I believe) the 2006 transition from the Mallory and will continue to do so. My family, as well as me personally, rate the accommodations and hospitality at the DeLuxe first class. Our recent stay on April 9 was no exception with the following two individuals exemplifying the definition of service/hospitality: Front Desk: April 9; 16:00 hrs. “Aiden“. Understand he is relatively new…his hospitality at check-in and following was outstanding. Welcoming, personable, highly intuitive, not to mention an excellent recommendation for dinner. Gracie’s: “Erin”. April 10, 07:45 The restaurant was busy for breakfast, and she was working the dining room alone. With five other tables to attend to, Erin greeted us and immediately recognized us from past dining experiences at Gracie over the last few years…what a treat! Again, superior service, not merely from the standpoint of recognition but as one who dines out relatively often, Erin is personable, clearly with excellent work ethic, nothing short of exceptional. Please recognize the two of them. Thanks, Sean Donnan
