Not as advertised
Such an aesthetically beautiful hotel, and amazing location and views. Very high end hip and contemporary. It held such promise. I was greeted by guy wearing a stained, stretched out Disney T-shirt & shorts who spoke to me while chewing a mouthful of food (seriously) and demanded to know if I needed valet parking and even though I said no, it was like he didn’t believe me. He mentioned valet like 4 times as if he didn’t hear me. Sorry to sound shallow but the appearance and attitude of this guy was so incongruent with the brand & look of the hotel it was jarring. Unprofessional and sloppy. I asked for ice and was told it was at the other end of the building which was fine, but there was no bucket, no container and when I (super politely) asked for one I was given a cardboard to-go container by the very harried and distracted bar staff while Mr. Stained Disney T-Shirt sat behind the welcome desk scrolling his phone. After dinner downtown I came back hoping to have a relaxed quiet evening & early bedtime (it was a Thursday) but instead was treated to listening to little kids shrieking & playing in the next room & a heavy cloud of pot smoke wafting into my room well onto midnight. It felt like a Motel 6 at a freeway truck stop. Never again.

Beautiful Room 39, but Room 7 was a nightmare
I stayed here for three nights—two in Room 39 and one in Room 7. The difference was night and day. Room 39 was lovely: comfortable and exactly what I expected for the price. Room 7, however, was miserable. It was unbearably hot, even though it was only 55 degrees outside. The so-called swamp cooler was just a fan blowing over ice water and provided no relief. Despite opening both doors and the window, running the swamp cooler, and using two fans (including one I brought from home), the room stayed at 75 degrees. I barely slept. I overheard another guest complaining of the same problem the night before, and the travelers in the room next to mine also mentioned it—so this isn’t an isolated issue. When I raised the concern, the manager brushed it off by saying the room would cool once the sun went down. It didn’t. Given the price of the room, I expected far better. Lighter bedding, true AC (or a real swamp cooler), and staff acknowledgment of the issue would go a long way. I left as soon as the front desk opened at 7 a.m. and would not stay in that room—or any like it—again.

Dirty rooms and inattentive management
We spent $3000 USD for two rooms for three nights, assuming it was a high-end hotel. On arrival, we were amazed to see that the rooms were filthy and had not been properly cleaned in a long time, if ever. I sent pictures of thick dirt under furniture and bed to management. The windows and other surfaces were dusty and full of spider webs. Management did zero. They offered to bring us clean towels and told us to put the tidy up note on our door. We did this from 9 to 4 each day, but no one showed up. It appears that the cleaners are lacking the necessary equipment, and management should be replaced.

Super unique
The history of this place and how they’ve remodeled it is amazing! Really cool and different! Very comfortable beds. Updated. Great bar! The only con is that the walls are really thin and you can hear everything your neighbors do. I’d still stay here again though.

Great room. Fantastic view. Bed dealbreaker.
Valet parking is worth it Very walkable to the whole town. Super easy check in, friendly nice people. Well managed. Free welcome champagne. Historical photos on the walls in the hallways were really cool to look at. The room was huge! And the river view was gorgeous with kit own little patio. The cement floors are jarringly hard and very cold. Would’ve liked more rugs The huge in-room bathtub was nice, robe and slippers a bonus. Bathroom shower a little anemic with non adjustable shower head. Shampoo, body lotion, conditioner, hand soap, bath, salts, all smelled fantastic, and made me google the makers. bedside tables were tiny, and there were not enough plugs for me to plug in my phone between the lamp being plugged in and the sound machine… which was excellent— I need to get one! Walls a bit thin. Could hear the TV on other side of the wall and a guy talking very loud. I used the provided earplugs for that. I have significant back issues and found the bed incredibly uncomfortable and way too soft. We kept rolling to the center and it was a king. Pillows— need a variety of thick and thin. Coffee and tea in the room with the electric kettle was really nice. The poor over coffee bags worked far better than we expected. Having a fridge with a freezer on top was an unexpected bonus— we found a little store and picked up our own yogurt and some fruit to store in the fridge for breakfast one morning and it worked great. The looseleaf teas in the little vials was pretty cool. Note to visitors that the fourth glass vial is brown sugar cubes. honestly, it was all about the view.. watching pilot boats and huge vessels come and go had us download a nautical app to see what they were and where they’d been. On our last day we spotted seals! Bring binoculars! Saunas were great! If you’re a light sleeper or need complete darkness you might not like this place. It’s essentially on a dock and the thumping of the waves hitting supports can be pretty loud and shake the rooms. And the curtains are tall and don’t completely close. for the price, I’m not sure we will be back. But it was an interesting stay.
