Service Creek Lodge is rustic vacation resort that offers a full set of services designed for the enjoyment of all. Simply pack your bags and hit the road. Once you arrive you’ll find everything you need for a great vacation including raft rentals, shuttle service, guided fishing and scenic trips, a restaurant and outfitter/convenience store and deli. A variety of lodging options are available: stay in the lodge or a tent site. If you don’t want to bring your own tent, Service Creek lodge offers tents with beds in them.

Enjoy unplugging at Service Creek Lodge. There’s no cell service or internet, so it’s the perfect place to relax, have fun and go ‘off the grid’ for a little while.

Booked a four night stay as a base camp for some cycling and car touring of the area. Totally exceeded our expectations! The hospitality was unbeatable. Roger the lodge host went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. If you want to unplug (no cell service- no WiFi) this is the place for you. Reasonably priced hearty meals at the on-site restaurant- the staff was super friendly and Kept us smiling! Highly recommended.

High Integrity!

On a busy 4th of July weekend, we ended our paddle trip at The Lodge at Service Creek. After buying ice cream and supplies, I misplaced my wallet on their outdoor seating area. I did not realize it was missing until I unpacked at home, 250 miles away. I called the Lodge and after carefully confirming my identity, Linda told me they had my wallet secure in their safe. What a relief! An honest employee found it and had turned it in to an honest employer. I felt extremely lucky I had misplaced it at an establishment that clearly demonstrates integrity. And very helpful as well....even though this was all my own fault, Linda spent extra time and effort to pack it and ship it safely home to me via UPS. As I look at my wallet on my desk, I am very grateful that unselfish and honest people still exist in this world. As such, they should be valued more than ever...God bless you! And I look forward to my next adventure to service creek more than ever.

Filthy House with fridge full of half eaten food

I frequently rent houses on Air BnB and VRBO and have never experienced a house as filthy as this one. The fridge was so full of half eaten and spoiled food that we couldn't fit our food into it and had to fill 2 large garbage bags with old food before we were able to put anything away. There was cat feces under one of the beds. The dishwasher didn't work and was filthy. The kitchen had no large pans or pots and very few kitchen tools and utensils. I believe that whoever "cleaned" before our arrival merely made the beds and hung up some towels - nothing else. Additionally the rail on the deck was very wobbly and decking was rotten - seems potentially unsafe. It is a pity because the area is beautiful but I do NOT recommend you stay in this house at any price.

This place is close to the John Day River and is centrally located between the John Day Fossil bed units. The people working here are what makes this place a fun place to stay, the lodge itself is pretty old but it is updated. You can hear people walking around and stuff because of the floor boards and stairs wood creaking. The beds were comfortable we stayed in the cowboy room which both kids liked the bunk bed in it too. They do not have cell service or wifi, the whole area around has no cell service though even in the towns nearby. There were snacks almost every night we came back in the common area, cookies and popcorn along with coffee in the kitchen every morning. The kitchen is stocked with dishes and cooking items so if you want to cook your own food you can. They also have a river house on the John Day River down the road which we did not stay in, but did look at and it is more private and modern if you are looking for that. The onsite restaurant was really good for breakfast, we only ate a dinner (which was good too) one night there but had breakfast every day. The pancakes were huge and delicious as were other specials that weren’t on the regular menu. We are definitely looking forward to coming back and doing one of their raft trips on the John Day River, we didn’t have enough time to do one.

Quaint, charming, historic site

My wife and I were spent a night here just two days before the total solar eclipse. We were fortunate to get a room only a few months before the event but could only get one night since the entire lodge had been booked for the night preceding the eclipse by a group a full year in advance. This is an old, historic home that has been converted into a boarding house type lodge. Anyone staying here should understand that going in and realize that it's not the Holiday Inn. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful during our entire stay. The room was clean and comfortable -- yes the floor squeaks and the window air conditioner wasn't the quietest, but those are minor issues that were overshadowed by the many positive features of the place. We thoroughly enjoyed the covered porch just outside our room with an assortment of chairs, benches and table to use. We enjoyed visiting with other lodgers while seated there. Our bathroom was just across the hall from our bedroom -- so what. I never once ran into anyone else accessing my bathroom, so it wasn't any different than being at home. The shower was great. Although we did not come prepared to cook our meals in the common kitchen, we had food and beverage items that we stored in the refridgerator during our stay, which prolonged their life. We did use the kitchen to make coffee in the morning, which was an added treat. The kitchen was clean and well maintained and there were no limitations for its use. A real bonus to staying here. My only complaint about the lodge is the back porch which is accessed from the kitchen. The porch had a table and chairs that would have been nice to use in sipping our morning coffee or evening glass of wine. But the back porch was filthy. It was covered in spider webs and did not appear that it had been cleaned in months, if not years. I can't understand why the effort hasn't been made to render it useable by the lodge guests. We ate dinner and breakfast at the next door cafe that is also run by the lodge. The menu was pretty basic but the meals were plentiful and tasty. No complaints about the food. All in all, this was a great experience. Yes, the place is rustic, in the middle of nowhere, and has some spider webs on the outside. In my opinion, that's what gives it charm and sets it apart from your typical chain motel. I'd stay here again anytime.
