Always a pleasure to come back here. Sherry and Jeri are so welcoming and we feel like we are coming home each time. Rooms are unique and we always love the breakfasts. Location off the beaten track but within easy access to Portland.
In the mid September I extended another two-night stay and the plan had changed so I had to checked out early. I was notified by my credit company that my credit card was compromised after the hotel charges so the card was canceled. Thus, I called Sherry to let her know to send me a check rather than credit to the credit card. I have been calling Sherry for three months and no communication from her to update me on the process of the refund.
There are 2 parts to the Inn, main house & adjacent house. Both are just fine: clean comfortable, quiet, communal rooms with games and books, TV in the rooms with god selection of channels, en-suite baths, easy entry code system. Lots of parking. Very pleasant people, good breakfast. Good advice on local facilities, restaurants etc. Would certainly stay again.
I flew into the Scappoose Industrial Airport, which services small aircraft (no jets flying over the Inn). It was an easy walk from the plane to the Scappoose Creek Inn, which is on a beautiful piece of property. I was checked in quickly and shown to my room. The whole affair is decorated nicely with interesting antiques. The room was well done, and the bed was very comfortable. It felt more like I was visiting family or friends than a bed and breakfast, which brings me to the breakfast. It was soooo good! They made a dish they called banana foster, but it was more like a banana bread pudding or strata. All I can say is it was delicious. I slept well and left with a full belly. Highly recommended.
Sept. 4, I booked two nights at Scappoose Creek Inn. I had a work trip in the area mid November. The day before my trip I called to confirm my reservation, no answer, so I left a voicemail. No one called me back. I was hoping my room was still booked. Friday I arrived at the Inn at 2:45pm. Check in time is at 3 pm, so I waited in my car for a bit. The place was empty. at 2:50 I went into the lobby, no one was there, so I followed the directions on the sign, it said if no one is here call this number. I called and left a message saying I was there to check in. Went back to my car. I was getting worried at this point because I had to be to work soon and I had to get ready, change, find a place to eat at, etc..... I waited till 3:09 still no one. I called the number two more times, with no answer. I was very disappointed because I didn't want to stay at a hotel, but I had no choice, I had no idea if anyone would show up at this point. I found it very odd that the website said check in is at 3pm, yet no one is home to check you in. I made a call to a local hotel and booked a room. At 3:17 I finally got a call from Sherry from Scappoose Inn and I told her I had to make other arrangements because I had to work and no one was there to check me in. She said "You couldn't have waited 15 minutes?" I said, no, I have to work, I couldn't wait. She then said, "I thought you had two other people with you, how can you be working?" She said, "Aren't you in town for the wedding?" Now in shock at the way I was being spoken to, and the accusation that I was lying, I said, that is none of your business why I am in town. Please do not charge me for a cancellation fee because I was there to check in and you were not. She said she was going to charge me for a no show fee. I said, You were the no show! Sherry then said, check in is from 3-6 and no one ever shows up at 3 for check in. She said she was getting groceries for breakfast the next morning. At this point the conversation got real bad and I ended up having to hang up on her. I then called my credit card company and she had already charged me a $90 no show fee. I will be filing fraud charges on this fee.
